I tried to adjust my tensioners to remove my belts, and they would only turn a little bit easily, then they'd get stop. It looks like they are just regular turn-bolt-to-adjust tensioners... I had to cut my belts off

They were shot anyway, and I'm replacing all that stuff.

Are mine messed up? Should I remove the retaining clip?

retain clip? are you referring to the c clip on the tension adjustment hex bolt? on those pulleys they are expensive. Spin them if they dont make noise dont F with them. the bearing run you 40 or so each. But if your just doing the belts you should just use a 14mm wrench i think and crack the pulley nuts and by hand un-screw the hex bolts a little (not all the way), re-install new belts using the picture on the fan housing and push up on the pulleys as hard as you can to get the slack out and re-tighten by hand the hex bolts. When this is done tighten the bolts using like a 6mm allen wrench(or something like that) make sure its pretty tight or it will squeal bad. then tighten the 2 bolts for the tensioners and your done. Recall that tighting the bolts will also tighten the belts so dont tighten the hex bolts too much. :bonk:

did you loosen the nut that holds the pulley on? If not, the tensioner (5mm allen key) wont loosen or tighten it..

no, that was my mistake. I'm used to the tensioner on my jeep, where you just turn the bolt. I never had the nuts loose. :bonk:
