Well its been a while since ive posted...but i have yet to return my body panels to the car. When i removed the acorn nuts most were demolished in the process. Any one know where i can get some. Or even just some bolts that will work.
Thanks

How about these?
They are nylon with a brass insert.

Thanks for the ***..i will let you know later tonight how many i need. I have to count how many are still attached to the car because they were so bad. and how many ill need to get them back on. Plus if you could shoot im those picks of the stainless steel hexs' you were talkin about that would be great. as long as they work its ok with me.
thanks again

Compare size on the stainless steel nylon insert nut.
I suggest using a washer under it.

dont use any of the plastic covered acorn nuts, the second it rusts a little bit you wont be able to remove it again

and remeber that mixing steel and stainless steel means that anyplace the 2 materials are in direct contact, the steel will be sacrificed to the rust. a SS nut will be stuck on a steel bolt just like a steel nut would get stuck to the same bolt

all SS hardware or no SS hardware is the way it should be done, and even then you want to insulate the SS hardware from any steel pieces they may touch by using plastic or rubber washers to insulate the different metals from each other

(IE: ss bolts & washers holding steel panels together, with plastic washers between the steel panels and the SS washers)

The Ford OEM acorn nuts are still available from Ford. Do a forum search and you'll even find the OEM part number.

Go to Fordpartsonline.com or call (866) 941-3673 and ask for Sam.

Here is a stainless steel washer with a bonded neoprene seal.
I would recommend it for under the stainless hex nut.

I would not use a lock nut (nut with a nylon insert). They could put too much force on the panel when you are installing it and you may damage the panel.
