i was looking at buying a 99 with 140,000 that has spun cams for 850.00. the car is spotless inside and out I know a guy that has a head that i could buy for cheap should i go or no go ????????

youre gonna need a new motor, so depending on how cheap you can get that... id determine from there

you don't always need a new motor, is it a fair chance yes ... but its not definite

That's what he said. Has the head been removed to see if any of the rotating assembly was damaged? The only way to be sure is to have someone to get a good look at it. If you can't verify it then offer $200 or so or walk away.

yeah when the cam goes it can throw valve into the pistons which will cause havoc.
if your lucky enough to have a good engine just needs a new head go for it.
make sure you get the engine inspected before you go with it..
theres a place that sells 3.4 v8 SHO engines but he wants like $2k for the engine

It might be worth it as a parts car, but not as a fixer-upper. Too much risk.

if you do get it and you find its not usable, part it. You'll get your investment back if you offer him $500.
