Hello again been a while Sold my white 90 and was given a 89 (black), should of kept the 90,
well to the point. the 98 is my wife's daily driver and the other day I got in it to get the kids from school started let out clutch and died, wouldn't start again. I built a engine test stand for a friend so I went over a barrowed the dis module the brain and a coil replaced each part one at a time and still no start.

then I went and got a code reader here is the first set of codes
1 1 11 1
441
911
441
91
seconded reading
11 111 1
911
441
91
after reading these my wife said the car felt like it had a flat tire pulling into work to me this sounded like over loading in the fuel system and if i know my wife I she hit a curb or some thing so I did the trunk fuel switch reset trick
smacked the switch and reset it twice then tried to start and same thing wont start checked grounds nothing then reread the codes
here is the third reading
11 11 11 11
11 11 1 1 1 1 1
11 11 1 11 11
621
6
1 1 1 1 1
1 1 1 1 11 1 1
what in the world is this thing trying, or not trying to tell me there is no alarm system ruled that out.
Where next crank sensor???
Help I need my truck back Wife is using it for work and the gas she runs out is very expensive.

Update!!!!!!!!! Sprayed starting fluid in between maf and throttle 1 minor cough!
Though Oh Crap!!!, Timing belt, took a deep breath and sprayed again held it to the floor and it cranked up. now it caught and acted like it was flooded then smoothed out. Gave it a couple of quick revs pulled it around to the shop ran just fine. Cleaned the K&N air filter in the fender now it runs like nothing is wrong.
Put this one in the X files.
Ok what should I look for to keep this from happening again.
I'm not mulder I'm not mulder.
I've turned wrenches for a long time mostly on my own stuff but for a few years for customers in the 80's and a couple in the late 90's but this is weired to me.

Your post makes no sense from the very beginning. A 98 has an OBDII system and uses Pxxxx fault codes, not what you have presented.

If it's indeed a 98, you are in the wrong forum.

Hay guys Ya it is an 89, Some times my fingers get going faster then my key board.
but being rude still doesn't make you right, now back to the question.
what in the world is this thing doing.
These code readings are baffling to me also

and If I'm in the wrong form Please redirect me.
The car which I'm reffering to is a 1989 Ford Taurus Black in Color
with a 3.0 dual over head cam
ground effects package in the rear bumper it says SHO
on the Title Issued by AZ state it says SHO
Thank you for bring my attention to my miss print

I also have OBD II software for my lap top, doesn't help much with these early computers

The 89 uses two digit fault codes. While pulling the codes, observe the interval between code digit pairs and you can come up with the correct pairings to yield the fault code.

Helpful sites for interpreting that flashing light include www.fordfuelinjection.com and www.shophoenixproject.com

Most likely, your codes are 14, 41, & 91.

Probably time for a new CPS. Ignore everything else until you get that resolved.

I've read code readers before but this one takes the cake.

up date I unplugged and plug back in the crank sensor and the darn thing ran for to months then quit in drive way again, did the same thing and it ran for two day and wouldn't get start replaced the crank sensor and she ran fine.
took a good look at the wires and found a broken wire at the sensor. to close to solder called a good friend at for just for giggles to get a price he found a Motorcraft one out of Florida for $180 plus freight. Gee what a bargain.

Has anyone used the $60 auto zone version.
Thanks

I don't mess with the zoners lol... I would get one from the venders, sometimes they give you the wrong stuff.

I would stay away from Auto Zone parts.

Nonsense. The Wells sensors are fine. We've used dozens of their cam and crank sensors.

I would stay away from the AutoZoner's though for diagnosis assistance. Unless you happen to get a moonlighting or retired mechanic behind the counter, ignore most of what they say.

thanks guys, and gals.
and where did you Find a $35 dollar CPS I can't find one locally for under $120.
that's why I checked auto zone.
And Hay I use to work there my self.(auto zone) and I trusted about 75% of their parts. Oh yea you did say moonlighting never mind.

Up date to the sensor dilemma. recently it (the 89 SHO) started it's I'm not starting tantrum again! @^%&*&%#$. so I went through the steps and it still ate my lunch, dinner and breakfast. Baffled again I broke down and took it to a Very good friend how has all the up to date diagnosis equipment, he is also a ASE master mechanic, and instructor, along with a certified us army black hawk mech. it took him 8 hours and two Calls to me.We finely found the problem. the lower pulley ( Harmonic balancer on some engines) had a worn woodroff key slot . This is what was causing the timing to jump.

8 hours to find crank cancer!?

Wow. Hope he didn't charge you for 8 hours labor!

I'd start a new thread for the new problem - this one is 3 years old!

Ya I know, but I thought it would be better to end with a cure, since most of the comments were criticisms.
My friend did have to charge me some I have no problem with that he does have over head to take care of. but he was almost a baffled as I.
Every sensor on the car checked out good along with fuel pressure etc. the problem went away for him twice and reared it's ugly head again.

It's just one of those things cars will do to ya when your not looking.
not many SHO's around here too.

I do have another problem I may be posting "sudden oil leak"

There is actually a large presence in AZ...

Scroll down to 'SHO clubs' - AZ is the top of the list.

FYI, the root of the problem your having is that the crankshaft bolt came loose...or wasn't tightened well enough the last time it was off.
