Anyone know if the rear head can be removed without taking the motor out? shrug

Uh, yes. Its said to be a real ***** but do-able.
Perhaps you would do better to ask this question in the GEN 3 section. You will have to remove the FRONT of the engine too. Get a big box of band aids. frown
