Hi all. I think I will be performing the 96 upgrade on my 95 next weekend. I just wanted to verify the parts I need. I need the 96 caliper brackets, 11.6 rotors and brake pads for a 96. Did I miss anything?

Next question: I am a little tight on cash right now. I was wondering if I bought good brake pads and went with standard rotors could I change the rotors later without having to buy a new set of pads? I only put about 6K on the car a year so they will last a long time... I'd rather invest the money I have now on good pads instead of a $190 set of slotted rotors (not sure if I am even going that far...) I think I am going to use a the Hawk pads...

You have all the parts you need. Some new bolts and locktite are recommend also. At least use locktite on the brackets to spindle if you reuse the bolts, witch most people do. I don't really see a problem with installing different rotors later on with the same pads as long as they don't get too much ware.

Sorry to hop in the middle of something but would 96 slo rotors and parts be an upgrade? is there anything else I can use from this car as upgrades for my 93 SHO. I have access to anything I need from a 96 for free........

The 96 SLO brakes are the same as 94/95 SHO/SLO brakes. The only thing you could use for the 96 upgrade is the calipers

So the brackets and rotors we need are specific to the 96+ SHO?

If the '96 SLO brakes are the same as the SHO '94/95, one can take the knuckles to install on a '93 or earlier SHO.

The Gen III SLO knuckles are probably the same as the Gen III SHO knuckles, which are different than the 94/95 knuckles. They will not simply bolt up to a Gen II.

Apparently the 96 upgrade brackets and rotors can be found on Continentals, Gen IV Taurii, and of course Gen III SHOs.

Wew, GenIV Taurii are not a problem to find in the junk-yards but the 96+ SHO is...

IIRC, the aluminum knuckles can be used from a gen III, but I think it throws off the camber horribly.

You are right, but they can be made to work. It has been done before.

Whoops, I didn't mean to say it couldn't be done. I'll edit that out. :bonk: I just meant that it wasn't a direct bolt on.
