A friend of mine is trying to unload his '96 SHO. Runs, drives, but needs some re-assembly. No dings, dents, just very dirty from sitting. Was his parts spare, but his other one blew and caught fire before he pulled anything.
Has a complete spare front clip/drivetrain, spare engine, and a set of the specialty tools. Note, he removed the pullies from the spare engines as the bearings are "Unobtanium"
Located in Manchester, CT

Note, the cats were deleted by the previous owner, which is why he was keeping it as a parts car.

He wants to unload all this for $2000, which is what he would get for scrap and selling selected parts. But, he is willing to negotiate pricing, and will deliver the car if within a reasonable distance from his house. He was thinking about using it as a Lemons car but the body is way too straight.

The owner responded, said within 100 miles. I'm sure he would be willing to deliver it futher for a fee - he has the towing equipment and trailer for it. He just has too many projects with a '29 Packard, a couple of '39 Mercs, Lincoln MkVIII, and others on his plate at the moment.

He is willing to negotiate pricing. I do know what the 'floor' is... I'd hate to see it scrapped...

Good luck on the sale. I’m afraid this one may be a bit too much of an undertaking for my first rehab.

It needs a cleaning and the light put back in. Runs and drives just fine.
Tires are fair.

Granted, if it was me, I would be spending 8-10 hours making it perfect cosmetically but I'm a bit OCD when I start cleaning..

Dropping to $1200 to move it. Straight scrap he can get $600 for the shell...

I am interested. Only logistical problem is I live near Reno Nevada.

And I would want the spare running gear too, so simply driving it back poses a challenge even if it would run 3000 miles home.

Let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas. A good tranny with it would put my 96 back on the road too.

Thank you. Hopefully we can work something out.

I went and read and then reread the ad. No where did it mention if the car or spare motor had the cams welded.

It would be nice to know if they were welded, or properly pinned.

Thanks again.

I'm pretty sure he welded the complete car's cams, but the spares were left alone. The complete front clip is a runner but the other one has been stripped of some parts (in the back seat of the car) and doesn't have plugs.
I will double check on the other engine cam status.

I know this isn't at all what the OP wanted but my '99 SHO has been down for over 2 yrs lacking an exhaust cam on the front head (closest to the front bumper). I saw something mentioned about "spares"? Would he be willing to part with exhaust cam(s)?

@ Qshiplvr - He has one engine that is partially disassembled though the valve covers are still on. What would you offer for the cam set if we see they are good?

The other engine is complete and with a full drive train and suffrage, and I wouldn't want to tear into that.

@Nuke - he says he didn't weld the cams on any of these engines, just his daily which went up in flames after swallowing a valve. He doesn't know if the previous owners of these did, but they are/were not making any noises.

TankII:

Thank you very much for the reply. I only need the one exhaust cam that is closest to the front of the car. I can pay $85 shipped. I don't want to take away the possibility of someone else needing any of the other cams. I already had one shipped to me that was useless by another seller due to the sprocket being spun (it turned freely...not very useful).

I know that's my problem to own, but the SHO is really a labor of love. It's just that the love has to be spread out over 3 other hungry mouths to feed, and there is only so much love to go around. I think you guys are familiar with that drill.

By the way, if this engine that he is tearing into is the one that swallowed the valve like mine, I wouldn't want the cam off the same head that gave up the valve, otherwise I'd be back where I started, only $85 poorer.

The car that swallowed the valve caught fire and burnt to a crisp. He has one spare motor and a full spare drive train on top of the whole running car.

The car is going to the junk yard Monday. He's getting $600 for it.
The spare engine and tyranny are up in the air - I haven't gotten the subframe off the other front end yet. He didn't tell me if those are going Monday as well.
I have the engine tool set.
