I have searched but can't find an answer to my question. Can I use caliper brackets from any Gen IV Taurus for this upgrade or do they need to be from the SHO or a Lincoln Cont? I am headed to the salvage yard tomorrow for several people and I want to be able to get everything while I am there. Thanks.

Kevin

P.S. The yard I am going to had an '93 or '94 ATX SHO last time I was there. The engine looked complete.

brackets from a 95 lincoln continiental (or 96 sho GEN III). there is a stamp on the bracket that will let you know which ones are ok, I dont know the stamp though.

I know you said you have searched, but there are two recent threads on this alone. If you search for 96 upgrade with the "Search" function up top, you'll find something.

Also, www.shotimes.com has a full write-up on the procedure and parts.

I did search and I did read all the recent posts about this brake upgrade. Also, I do have that number. I got it from a recent post. But, I seem to remember a vague reference someone made that any generation IV Taurus caliper brackets can be used. This is my question. Can anyone answer it?

Kevin

P.S. I just realized this should have gone in the mod section. I apologize for my oversight. If a modertor wants to move this thread then that is fine with me.

2000+ sable and 2001+ taurus have the correct caliper brackets. I know because they are in full use on my car at this very moment!

As long as the brackets have FN74 on them they will work. My brackets are from a 97' SHO so you can also look at 97'-99' SHOs.

96-99 SHO brackets will work, 95 Continental brackets will work and any gen IV Taurus Brackets will work. the only reason some would say not to order the 96 SHO brackets is that in the parts stores interchage it lists the wrong part for some reason. just order the 2001+ taurus brackets or the 95 Continental Brackets and you shouldnt have any problems. and yes the stamp is FN74
