hi, i have a 94 sho with factory remote keyless entry and the door keypad. Anyways the car sat for a few months with the battery dead and the keyless entry and the first 3 buttons on the doorpad will not work. I was reading on how to reprogram the keyless entry and I went out and try to do what it said which was to turn the car on run or acc mode and jump the 2 pins on a connector located on drivers rear quarterpanel. It also has 2 wires and its a grey connector. You should hear the doors lock and unlock and they didnt. I'm not sure if its the right one but the only one i can find. Also I have a black connector in my trunk that i see is disconnected which also has 2 wires in it. It was just sitting in my trunk disconnected and i'm not sure whats its for and where it goes because i was searching for 30 minutes trying to find the mating wire harness for it and no luck. I dont think ford would leave a hanging harness back there with nothing for it to plug into. Oh yeah, remote keyless worked fine before i stored my car over the winter. The first 3 buttons on the keypad never worked to my knowledge but the last 2 do they lock the doors fine. Any help would be appreciated, i'm new here and pretty new to the sho. I love my car and I have been reading quite a bit around here and it sounds like you guys really know what you are talking about. Thanks in advance

Welcome aboard. :thumb:

The connector can be either grey or black, as far as I know.

I emailed you a couple of pictures that were sent to me by another SHO owner (Doug). Helped me, maybe they will help you.

Good luck.

well i tried to reprogram the remote keyless entry. I found the right plug using the pics rockledge sent me. The locks went up and down to confirm reprogramming mode. Only thing is when i used my remote to complete the reprogram nothing happened. I dont know if this means i have a bad remote or remote keyless module. Or maybe i'm just pushing the wrong buttons on the remote. I opened up the remote to see if it was corroded or anything but its clean and it has next to no parts in it so I dont see how it could go bad. If the remote is bad can i get another one or do i have to replace everything. If so how much would it cost.

Keyless Entry Remote Programming Procedure

Did you pick up the remote used? Sometimes the sellers of those things are a little confused about which remote works with the SHO's keyless system.

Here is the procedure I followed, and it worked for me (I got my remote off of eBay):

Follow the bundle of wires leading to the keyless module from below & to the left. There should be one that leads to a grey or black 2-wire male connector which is not connected to anything. It is probably partially/completely concealed behind the trunk carpet, so you may have to pull it down some to find the connector. It is often just in front of the inertia fuel cut-off switch. The wires going to this connector should both be white with a yellow stripe. (You may also find another unconnected grey or black female connector, but it will have 4 wires, and is NOT the one you want!) Once you've identified this connector, do the following:

1. Turn the key to RUN or ACC (leave the door open).

2. Take a large paper clip, screwdriver, or even a penny, and place it inside this connector so that it is touching both of the metal prongs in the connector at the same time. The connector is now shorted ("jumped"). All of your doors should then lock, and unlock.

3. Remove the paperclip/jumper.

4. Press any one button on the first transmitter you want to program, the doors should lock & unlock to verify programming.

5. Repeat step 4 for each additional remote you want to program, up to 4 total (don't forget the one attached to the key in the ignition).

6. When all transmitters have been programmed, turn the key to OFF. The doors should lock & unlock one last time.

7. Check to make sure all the transmitters work. Repeat programming if any don't work. You will have to re-program any custom keyless code you may have had, as well as reset the autolock feature to your desired option.

Note that any time you do this you have to program all of the transmitters at the same time. Each time you enter programming mode with the jumper, it erases the module's memory.

rockledge, I just ran the instructions you gave me and they worked fine. I did get stuff narrowed down. I used my roommates 94 mustang remote and programmed that to my car and it worked fine. So i at least know my remote keyless system is o.k. Its just that my remote itself is bad. I guess i need to get a new one. Know anyone selling one. fcc # gq43vt4t. I just put new batteries in my remote so i know the batteries arent dead.

update. I just bought my friends mustang keyless remote off him for a case of beer. Not a bad deal. It sucked at first cause both cars would unlock and both trunks would open. I shorted out his car for reprogram mode and put nothing in so the remote now only works for my car. Now i can finally work on my remote starter

Geez, a case of beer? Does he happen to have another remote for sale? :D

Glad to hear you figured it out. Now it's onto the next thing (it is a SHO, after all)... ;)
