94 sho need advice

Im looking at buying a 94 sho its blue 3 year old non perfect paint grey leather nees driver door panel and passanger rear window motor has 140,000 on it,

I'm tring to figure out whats wrong with the engine the owner says it will just die completele no sputter just completely cut out and wont start again for half an hour to an hour and a half I think it sounds like the water pump is leaking and causing Crank pos sensor to go out what do you guys think, also it runs good but pretty rich theres an exaust leak somewhere around the cats this might be messing up the o2 sensors and causing this what do you think,

I figure Ill have to put a y pipe in, repace water pump, Crank sensor, might as well do timing belt while its apart and needs knew alternator is it worth
1000 obo? It will be my first sho if I buy it

Did you confirm what the owner says? Has it "just died" on you at all? Does it seem to be starting OK for you when cold?

I wouldn't jump to conclusions regarding the crank sensor, but until you know more I suppose you can't rule it out, either. In any case, the first thing to do is pull the codes from the computer:

Also, when the engine is warm and it dies and won't start, pull the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator and check it for fuel.

the motor stars great when cold and runs great too until it will just die, seams like the computer just cuts out or kills power

A car that doesnt run is just parts, and 1000 dollars is a lot to pay for someone elses headache. Especially if you dont know your s***. I would never buy a car that I knew nothing about and couldnt take for a reasonable test drive without it cutting out. It could just be the CPS, ( which is no small deal) or something else or a combination of several things, there is no way to tell unless you want his headache to become yours. For example Ive got a 93 that runs great, has plenty of mods, many new parts, and I'd be lucky to get 2500 for it and I just sold a 91+ that ran great but had a power steering leak for 500

the other thing is tempature affects how lon before it dies, when its warmer out it would be lucky to make it a mile but when its cold it can problably make it 20 mabee 30 miles and I will test drive it if I do decide I want to look at it again, cluch felt good and gears seamed good when I had it started

Could be fuel pump going out, or IRCM turning fuel pump off. Thats what mine has done!

Iv also heard of one case where the relay box in the front on the engine compartment went out and it did the same thing, that turned out to be a 10 dollar fix for the guy, he got the part from a wrecking yard so Id have to look at that too I thought fuel pump or ign. mod at first but It doesnt act like runs out of gas or even puts up a fight when dieing engine just stops
