ok i just got my 94 atx back from the ford dealer. they did an engine swap because i had spun the rod bearings. I also had ford put in new rod bearings, mains in the used engine(95k) i bought. i mentioned to check the value lash(60K) but they said i wouldnt need it and that it would be a waste of $$$. they also told me the TQ needed to be replaced....so i had them do that.. well i got the car back yesterday, it seems to run good, however they didnt check the plug well seals like i told them and the plug wells leak oil....what should i do about this...are they really that big of deal? And now to the tranny... from a stop... if i step the accelerator down in just the right spot, aprox 2/3 throttle, it makes a hard clunky shift to 2nd. also from a dead stop if i kick it down it feels like it starts in second gear(kinda boggy).....but if im rolling say 15-20mph and kick it down it drops to 1st and pulls like the car should. Any imput would help thanks guys!i just stuck $2000 into a car thats only worth $3000 but i hate to part it.

First of all, welcome to the boards. Next, if you have any type of mechanical knowledge, work on the car yourself. You will save a **** of a lot of money, time, and (maybe) frustration. Now, an engine swap and tranny rebuild isn't exactly a piece of cake, but it's do-able in a normal garage well-equipped with tools. Anyway, if you asked, the stealership should have performed a valve lash adjustment (which they should know to do anyway, since the 60k is a required maintenance procedure). I'd recommend you take your car a shop that specializes(sp?) in SHO's, or at least to someone who knows what they're doing under the hood of one. The plug well gasket is a big deal, and can become a very pressing issue, since it can cause plugs to foul out prematurely and cause the wires to short out as well. Plus, if there's only a little bit of oil in there now, that amount will not stay the same. Oil will continue to leak into the plug wells. Now, plug well seals aren't really a tough job. Someone who really knows what they are doing can have it done in a few hours, most of that time being taken up by pulling the intake and cleaning it up. As far as the tranny, I don't know. The 1-2 clunk is pretty normal on an ATX, since they are not exactly top-grade pieces of hardware. I can't really help you on the tranny issue though. frown

Tranny issues sounds like a motor/trans mount being done for. If the dealership supported wrong or didnt support the motor while they put in or removed the trans a motor mount coulda took too much strain and is no longer working.
