Situation - my folks have a 93 ATX with +/- 170k on the clock. About two months ago, it had an occasional no-start condition so I replaced the starter with a remanufactured unit from Autozone/Advance/something like that.

New starter worked perfectly. Until last week.

Twice, once the ignition was turned on the starter would not stop turning over. Not just "did not stop when you pulled the key back" as if you were trying to engage the starter on an already running engine but even when the ignition was turned all the way to the off position and the motor was getting no gas or fire.

Thoughts?

Faulty solenoid? Bad wiring?

I am trying to have all my ducks in a row before I make the trip over to fix the car.

Thanks.

Never personally had this problem on a SHO but my old Jeep did that when the solenoid was bad. I'd take the starter back to where it was purchased since most have a year warrenty. That way if it doesn't fix the problem at least you can rule it out.

Starter Problem

The bendix is sticking and the starter is turning with the flywheel, and or the power from the solinoid. Starter needs to be replaced. Heres a good MOTO to run with...Just because it's new does not mean it's good!. Hope this helps
