Hey, haven't posted here lately, or even lurked much. So I show up today and learn what happens when you push the clutch in besides being able to start the car!

Anyway, my wife and I are going to replace the rear motor mount on her '92, my question is how much, if any, will we have to loosen the bolts that secure the trans mount to the (sub)frame, if any? We already know that we'll need to loosen the nut on the stud that secures the front mount as much as possible without taking the nut off (easier than having to get both front and rear studs realigned).

Bev's SHO is a red '92 with all black interior, nice paint and body. It's the partial leather and has a moonroof. We'll be putting a MagnaFlow y-pipe on when we're finished with the motor mount replace, and then better than stock mufflers.

2 SHO family now!

Many thanks for any help!

You shouldn't have to do anything with the tranny mount to do the rear engine mount. You can take the front motor mount nut completely off if you need to, it shouldn't be that hard to align again.

Many Thanks!

After a little more delay, we finally swapped out the rear motor mount. Many thanks for the tip.

Car abuse: the stud that attaches the rear mount to the sub-frame was partially stripped/cross-threaded, which made it a ***** to remove; needed a 3/4" drive ratchet and a 3 1/2 ft. long pipe over that! To complete the stupidity, the nut on the front mount was slightly loose. To do the car justice, we tightened both of the motor mount nuts to factory specs. with a torque wrench.

This blows my mind a bit: this SHO sat for close to two years without having been started. Put a new, charged battery in, and the beast started on the FIRST round of cranking! Now on to cleaning "Fearless" up. She drives real good (you know, smooth).

Thanks again!
