As stated, I have a 92 sho, but the stereo doesnt make sound.

everything is in place, the RCU sub amp and stereo with CD player.

the stereo powers on and all controls seem to work, antena goes up and down.
the CD player didnt seem to work but after i cleaned out all the connections it powerd on but the mechinism doesnt seem to work.

I have power to all the right wires in the trunk but I get no sound.. i do however get a very faint thump thump thump kind of noise from the speakers.

From what i read the RCU may be the culprit but i could not find if the normal RCU like the base or MACH will work in its place.

does anyone have a JBL unit?

I have had issues with the head unit, if this is the Ford head unit we are talking about. I would start there with another head unit.

My JBL system never worked. I just ended up bypassing it and using my aftermarket headunit.

that was my second thought, as i am no stranger to full system installs. i was just hopeing i could get the factory junk working till i could afford the after market stuff. i still need to register this thing and replace an axle and an abs sensor and find a center cap and fix the paint and clean it and and and and......

I would consider getting another original radio by posting on this forum. The original systems work very well.
In theory, you could get the old one tested, but I have never done that, or know what to test for.

well I bought a factory integration harness and an aftermarket Kenwood head unit, still nothing. So I bought 2 pairs of Rockford Fosgate 5.25 component speakers. Some 5.25 to 6x8 adapters with tweeter cutouts. A 1000watt 5 channel JVC amp. and finally a shallow 8" Pioneer sub to put in the box. Also some DEI boom mat baffles, in the 5.25 and 6x8 flavors.

I thought about looking into the stock system further, then I decided it was a good excuse to just go ahead and upgrade.

Tunes are very important to me. and since my jeep frequently sees deep water its not a candidate for a good sound system..

Sadly amazon says its going to be near a month till I get all the goodies. I'll update when it comes along.
