I have a 92 SHO that I will be performing a front 96 brake upgrade on. I purchased a complete set of brakes from a gen3 (rotors, brackets, calipers) that was totaled along with some donor spindles from a 94.
It turns out that the brake parts from the gen3 that I bought also included the rear calipers, brackets and rotors. I wasn't intending on doing any brake work in the rear, but can I benefit from using the gen3 parts on my 92?
The only reason I ask is that the gen3 parts came from a 97, so the calipers and hoses are 5 years newer than my 92. I have read many discussions about putting the front 96 brakes on the rears of the gen1/gen2 cars, but nothing about putting 96 rears on the rears of a gen1/gen2.
My goal is not to have any extra performance or stopping in the rear. I just have some free "newer" parts that I would like to swap in if I could as preventative maintenance. Are the gen3 rear calipers and/or hoses interchangable with the 92?
