Went to start my son's 91 today but the fuel pump is not working, car has been sitting out in the Florida elements for a couple of years, last time it started and ran fine. Motor turns over but the is no sound from the fuel tank indicating the fuel pump is trying to run, the engine will start on starting fluid, checked the fuel rail and there is no fuel pressure. I did thump and activate the fuel cut-off switch in the trunk, then reset without any luck. I'm thinking the fuel relay/fuse if there is one. Like I said, the car has has been sitting outside for an extended time, could be wiring being damaged by rodents or just maybe a bad ground from corrosion. Any ideas as to where to begin the diagnosis will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!!

The fuel pump relay is in the CCRM which is mounted on the radiator support next to the ABS module. Black box with a big letter on it. Give it a few good thumps with the handle of a large screwdriver. Sometimes they get stuck.

If that doesn't do anything then you might need a pump. Give the under side of the tank a few good thumps with a rubber mallet.

Thanks Chad, do you happen to have a pic of the CCRM?

No, but it's pretty hard to miss. Under the plastic radiator cover mounted to the radiator support on the driver side. Big letter on top.

How old is the gas in there? Modern gas formulas are not very good long term. That's not to say the pump isn't bad just thinking what it will be pushing.

Also be sure to check the fuel pump cutoff switch. Located in the passenger side kick panel next where your feet would be.

There is a crash sensor in the trunk and it has a reset button. Try that.
It is on the drivers side.

Thanks,
I know there's a cut off switch in the trunk, never heard of one being in the kick panel of a Gen 1 SHO.

So I tapped on the CCRM and the tank with no results. Guess next step is to start tracing wires to see if she is getting power to all the components, anyone done this before, if so where did you start and how did you go about it?
Thanks

The kick panel module is part of the airbag system, it is called a "safer switch" or something like that. Never had to deal with one in real life, just read that it is down there.

Yup, we were messing around at a BaySHO group meet one time and showed how you could slap the right spot on the LR fender and activate the crash sensor. Really worried one of the guys until he saw us laughing.

And once at an autocross, it was a bumpy lot and I had left my pine jack support block in the trunk when I took out the spare. Wouldn't you know it, one of the bumps launched that damned block across the trunk and it disabled the car on course. I was pretty sure I knew the problem (everyone else thought I had lunched the motor). Popped the trunk, reset it, fired right back up. Never ran with ANYTHING in the trunk since that event.

Turn the a/c on. Turn the ignition to run. Does the motor cooling fan come on? If not it will probably be the CCRM (Computer Controlled Relay Module) located above the radiator (drivers side) under the black vinyl cover. Square black box with multi pin connector.
