Mechanic told me that a bar was missing as part of my suspension. I was unaware of this. He said it is something that pulls the car down when at higher speeds and it just a rod that attaches to the suspension. Any idea of what he might be talking about is called? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A bar? Well the rear has a sway bar with endlinks that attach to the strut housing and there are training arms in the rear. So anything that could be considered a bar would be sway bar, sway bar links, or trailing arms.

So check this out (GenIII regular taurus-- has same suspension setup) here:

If you jump to around 3:43 will show you the swaybar to endlink connection. around 5:40 on the vid and pause it you will see his fingers grabbing the endlink that attaches the sway bar to the strut body. Straight bar looking thing.

You will see the sway bar itself coming out of one of the sway bar rubber bushings and the end curves down and to the left to connect at the bottom end of the sway bar endlink to secure it to the strut housing. It has glossy black coating mostly flaked off to bare metal.
Below those you will see 2 stamped metal arms coming from the middle of the car to the bottom of the rear knuckle or whatever you want to call it that keeps the entire assembly from going anywhere. Those are called trailing arms. You can get better views of those by watching the video for another minute or so.

I know it has the trailing arms and sway bar links. This is something else he was referring to but I have never heard of it and he didn't know the name for it.

You get a pic? Maybe the tension strut that runs along the bottom of the sides of the car with big funky rubber bushings?
