I am new here and the right side of my stereo is cutting out, it also buzzes and pops when I change stations. I have searched around here and checked everything out and it seems to be ok wiring wise, no splits cracked or loose wires. Are these stereos just junk? I have a ton of stereo equiptment from my younger days that I can install. Should I waste my time tinkering with the original or just yank it and upgrade. I also want to know if anybody knows of the Correct harness to use with the 89 premium sound it is not a JBL. 6 speakers no sub. There was someone who posted to use the Schloske FDK 10 for an 89 but the package says 90 up JBL so I dont think that is the one I need or is it?. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks and I will post some pics as I am installing the new stuff. It will be all Orion powered.

My 93 with Premium sound does that same thing, speakers popping. I swapped in an extra radio and amp and the same thing still happens... Is this normal for the Premium sound in the SHO? The noise seems to be eminating in the passenger side only.
Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone have the wiring schematic for the Premium sound setup. I may change the amp in the trunk to a better model and need to know the wiring color schematic.

Thanks,

I just went out and bought a premium sound bypass kit at a local Audio Store Merta 70-5514. I am going to scrap the factory set up and go with a CD unit.

Got everything in and actually the speakers are NOT bad. Not Polks but decent for now until the power goes in thumb .

The speakers (JBL, at least) aren't actually that bad, and are not the weak link of the stock stereo. I had my Pioneer (~3 years old, 45x4) in my SHO with stock speakers and amps, and it worked well shrug The only other upgraded part was the sub, which I replaced with a tube.
