It's that time again!

The date is Saturday May 7th at Lapeer Dragway:

http://www.lapeerdragway.com/

Saturdays are Test-N-Tune, and for $25 you can get a LOT of runs in. Please note that a helmet is required for all cars running. Any helmet will do, and they also rent helmets at the track for $5.

It will be our "usual" routine of a gathering at Big Buck (in Auburn Hills) on Friday night, then to the track on Saturday.

Dinner on Saturday after the track, at a restaurant TBD, as there appeared to be "issues" with events at the West Street Grill in Lapeer last October.

If anyone needs hotel info, email me, but there are a lot of hotels near Big Buck in Auburn Hills on Opdyke, like Motel 6, Holiday Inn Express, Marriott Courtyard (walking distance to Big Buck).

I will also post this to the various SHO lists, but any car is welcome (even turbo Subies like mine)!

We also hold the Fall Meet at Lapeer in the October timeframe, for those who can't make it.

<Soapbox Out> As I get cranky in my old age, I don't want to hear the ******* about Lapeer, as:

1. This is primarily a social event, we are not professional drag racers.
2. We are all running on the same track, under the same conditions.

We have run at places like the NHRA-sanctioned Quaker strip that has a hill at the end. Don't matter it's still you against the guy in the next lane!!

<Soapbox Put Away!>

BTW, Dave Garber says he's coming. Whenever he comes, the weather is GREAT.
When he has missed the last few outings, it has rained!

No you don't have to race. **** I'm not even sure if there really is any racing going on. It's a SOCIAL event and a BS session and sharing a few beers with some really good people.

Lapeer Dragway is only maybe 30 miles past Flnt, and GR is only a couple of hours, at most, from Flint.

There are folks coming here from the east coast, as well as PA and OH.

For those of us who drove 2,500 miles one-way from MI to the SHO Convention in CA, a drive from GR to Lapeer Dragway is a trip around the block :thumb:

Hey don't forget about me. I drove about 7 and a half hours for the last Lapeer get together only to have it rained out. I drove over 2800 miles one way to the convention also. Call me crazy.

Saturday May 7th forecast on Accuweather looks good. 69 high, light winds from the ESE (tailwind). We have also changed our Saturday night dinner spot to the Wooden Eagle on M24 (Lapeer Road) in Lake Orion, three miles north of the Palace and the ramp to I-75.

Turned out to be a great day with a great bunch of folks. Thanks to all who came!!
