Hello,

I recently had the front turbo go bad and ordered some replacements. They sent me a part number which is different than what ford lists. I wanted to know if anyone has ever put what appears to be a Explorer turbo on a SHO.

I have a 2013 SHO.

What is on there: AA5Z6K682F
What was sent (rebuilt): AA5E9G438GC

I don't want to take this back off because there is some difference between them I am not noticing. As far as appearance they look the same.

Reason I am replacing is the front (left) turbo oil seal went out.

They may look identical but the AR for the compressor or the inducer might be different. One rated for different power vs the other.

I work for a Ford dealership in Parts and can verify that if two different vehicles use the same part then they will share the same part number. Having two separate part numbers means that something is different and specific to each vehicle. Will it work? Possibly. Are they the same? No.

Taurus, Flex, MKS, Explorer... my understanding is it's pretty hard to find an engine part that's not interchangeable between them all. @Ecoboost_xsport can probably verify that there's no practical difference between these turbos.
