Not tall enough in my opinion. I run 225/55/16.

I have 225/50/16 ES100s. You can't see them too well in my sig pic though. I'll see if I have a better pic.

they fit fine, and work well too. they are a whole lot cheaper too because its the size tire mustangs and other cars use alot. the 225/55/16 is not quite as common and is more $.

IMO ....Probably the best size, handling wise for the 16 inch wheel. the slicers might not be the ideal wheel but it should be ok. BTW: I've run Brigstone SO2's and SO3's on my SHO's. The SO2's where the best tires I have ever experianced......period. Just keep in mind the speedo and odo will read faster than actualy and you final drive ratio will be higher.

Good thing about it is, you can squeeze out a little bit more performance out of them.

The bad parts are, wheel gap is going to be noticeable, unless you have lowering springs then it won't be bad.

And it will throw your speedo off just a bit. So if your speedo reads 50 mph, you might be actually going 55-60 mph, correct me if I have that wrong.

The difference in diameter is:

215/60 = 26.16"
225/50 = 24.86"

Difference: 5 %

So, the speeds would be:

Indicated: Actual:

30 -------- 28.5
40 -------- 38
50 -------- 47.5
60 -------- 57
70 -------- 66.5
80 -------- 76
90 -------- 85.5
100 ------- 95

I'll actually be picking up a set of Kumho MX's in a 225 50 16 to slap on the stock slicers, next week. There about $109 a pop. Not bad. I cant afford the SO2's ($170 ea.) right now or else those would be my choice.

I can't speak for other brands/models, but I have 225/50r16 ES100s on my car. I think they look really good. They do go past the rim some as someone else said, but they aren't folding around the rim and loosing contact with the road because of the size difference. They fit really well. If you look at the specs for most tires in the 225/50 category you'll see that most are rated to fit the slicers width.

As for performance, I took them on thunderhill and had no issues with them.

They do have more road feel, however. But the ride in my car is smoothe as silk at 100mph on the fwy with the konis all the way loose.

I also like the lower final ratios, easier to start out, and it feels more responsive. Speed difference doesn't bother me.

Email me if you want pictures and I'll take some new ones.
