2018 key fob programming

i have two working keys and bought a third,is this something only a dealer can program or any diy methods?

No. You can program the third key using the 1, 2, 3 method.

If you only have 1 key, then a scan tool is needed.

I think the 1,2 3 method is described in the owners manual?

For the standard Taurus where you use the key in the ignition there is a programming method outlined

I apologise. I didnt have access to publications. Even the 2nd version is a no go.


Soo... try this:

All three keys in the car, 2 programmed keys on the dash. Key off. Put the unprogramed key in the backup slot. Press the door lock, unlock button 3 times. Press and release the brake pedal. Press the door lock lock button 3 times. (The start stop button should flash really fast) press and release the brake pedal. Press the start/stop button to program the key. You should read in the message center that a key has been programed.

Apply the brake pedal again to exit programing.

Remove the 2 previously programmed keys. Test new key.

Dorman has a key and a black box for obd port looks pretty inexpensive...
