17' SHO with Sony and Navigation.

I need some help with a subwoofer install. I searched this, and many other forums. I found wiring diagrams and explanations. I saw all the pics of wire coloring and the harnesses at the DSP in the trunk. My 17 is different than everything I saw. I'm adept in wiring and have already got all the items ready to go. Sub, amp, wiring kit and remote wire. I've got a sub amp with built in crossover. I'm going to tap the speaker leads in the C4326A plug as I understand these to be full range and are part of the 4 sets of speakers runs, unprocessed from the head unit. I am holding on purchasing an Audio Control LOC as I shouldn't need it.

Pictures attached are first, my harnesses and second the pics that everyone has been using for wiring in a sub via the factory harnesses. I also referenced this on 12volt.c om and they show the same info of the 13' Sony DSP wiring.

Does anyone know definitively what changed with the 17'? I don't have "wire 3" subwoofer/amplifier enable in my C4326A. As well, wiring colors don't match the schematic in the other 2 harnesses either. Also, the amp physically looks different from all the other pictures I've seen.

Any help is appreciated. I will use a meter to try and find a remote wire tap in the rear. Something has to turn on the amp back there.

Thank you,

The ACM only sends left and right audio to the DSP. The D.S.P. then runs everthing. At C 4326A the left speaker + is pin 7 (geeen), - is pin 17 grey. Right speaker + is pin 9 (violet) and - is pin 19 yellow. C4326 is a grey connctor, 20 pins large but only 9 pins are used.

The amp enable circuit is pin 3 violet with a red tracer.

I appreciate your input. But, did you see my harness picture of C4326? It has no pin 3 wire...

My plan is to tap those 4 wires, 7/17 - 9/19. I'm just assuming they are full range and obviously are low voltage.

Can anyone confirm they are unprocessed at that point?

I didn' realize one picture is if your car. The other off the net.

FORD is good at copy paste when there is not much change. Your on your own, lol

2018 is the same as the 17 wiring wise per the diagrams.

lol thanks!! I just read a 10 page thread about sync 3 and the 16+ Fusion. Ford has changed stuff. Not sure what all of it applies to the Taurus, but I gather, based on research thus far, they applied these changes to the Taurus and possibly other lines as well. It sounds like there is other processing happening at the ACM up front for the center channel speaker. Like it's offloaded up front and never comes back to the AMP. I will give this a shot and update the thread.

I am not aware of what changes were made for 2017+, however in earlier models the APIM outputs a fixed volume L/R only and all processing happens in the Sony amp. There is a data signal that controls volume at the amp so if you tap before the amp the sub volume will not change with the rest of the system.

You are still likely corrct that a separate mono audio circuit goes directly to the D.S.P. from the APIM for cetain alerts. Sterio usually goes through the ACM them the DSP. But this varies some on model year.

Hyperspd7, there isn' a U.S.B. cable to your DSP, is there?

I may be confusing modules but my point is that the audio signal before the Sony amp is a fixed volume and is useless to pull a sub signal from. There is a separate signal for alerts as well as a data signal to control the amp functions such as volume, balance, fader, etc.

Nope you are corect. The D.S.P. does a lot of things. If the O.P. wants unfiltered audio it has to come from the A.C.M. But the A.C.M. won't power a speaker by itself. You're also correct that at this point you will not get muting function for alerts as this is completed by the D.S.P. The DSP performs some of its functions via the Controller Area Network in addition to its audio inputs.

Damn, you guys are right. If the ACM controls volume, then I'm screwed lol. Looks like the Audio Control LOC is in my future. I will look for a USB connection at the amp. I have not torn into the install yet. Just completed the box today.

Got everything installed. Used the factory woofer for the AC LC2i. I did not see any USB connections at the factory amp.

Some of F.M.C.s newer set ups have a u.s.b. cable called an Automotive Audio Bus between the A.C.M. and D.S.P. just wondering if the wiring diagram was REALLY wrong.

I can tell you for certain that the wiring colors and location in the harness plugs are completely different. The only exception is the incoming left, right and can bus wiring in the A plug. There is no wire 3 from amp turn on. The amplifier also looks completely different from the other pictures I’ve seen of past model years.
