Hey all,
I am planning to replace my water pump and timing chain on my 2011 SHO, as it is passed 200,000 kilometers, and to my knowledge, has not had either done. I am planning to do the inverted tooth to roller chain upgrade, so I have the parts list for that, see attached. My question is if I should also worry about the oil pump and VCT Solenoids, as I will have everything apart, but I don't know how commonly these parts fail.

Any advice/ insight is appreciated, I plan to wait for warmer weather to attempt this, but wanting to get the planning started now.
Thanks!

I would definitely change the oil pump. You're already in there. Use a Melling high volume pump with the standard pressure spring. VVT solenoids only require removal of the valve covers and associated parts. Use your own judgement on those.

I see that lists Motorcraft Specialty Green antifreeze(Dark Green). Depending on the production date, your car may have had dark green or orange as the factory fill. Not sure if either is still available. It has been replaced by Motorcraft Specialty Yellow antifreeze. It is OK to mix dark green or orange with yellow.

I've actually already done the special green to yellow conversion, and I'll be happy for yellow to be the only coolant the new pump sees!

the oil pump is not a failure item but i agree w tm, while already in there .. keep original as backup if you have room. the melling pump is tempting for sure but does not have a track record like oem does. if you are not paying for labor, then it's worth a gander.

I was quoted $5999.99 For Water Pump and Timing Chain parts and labor. Car Craft Athens Georgia. Is this high? Not knowing anything about it yet it seems very high to me. Any advice? What is a reasonable quote?
