So was I but after having the tune and seeing the differences and being reassured that the my servicing dealer didn't see it as a problem...I felt it was worth it. After having it, I can't imagine driving without it, and there is no negative things I have found since the Livernois Stage 2 tune....you have no idea what you are missing.

Could you elaborate, ie. on what those of us with a stock tune are missing? I don't really run around tearing up the streets. I find the stock tune fine. Also, there is no issue with reprogramming the PCM? Is this something the dealers found not to be an issue with Ford?

Mike, I don't know that the stock tune is "missing" anything, I just like the improved response at low rpm and the improved (i.e. quicker) response throughout the entire rpm range and the improved (slightly faster and firmer) shifting. So I thought the car was great from stock, but the tune did improve the overall performance of the car. Looking over your list of cars, it's easy to see that you appreciate performance (Great cars BTW) I'm betting you would like the improvements the tune makes to an already terrific car.

Rumors which are unconfirmed for 2012 are lighter overall weight, improved, lowered suspension, revised front, body colored fascia to distinguish from lesser models, improved brakes (maybe from the new police intercepor), lighter wheels, 400 hp.

Yeah, I see your point. A quicker response and better shifting would be an improvement. I'm just really paranoid about the warranty issue. I recall hearing that Ford put out a memo late in, I believe, '09 that the dealers are supposed to check if the PCM was reflashed if they get any drive train component failures.

Shobote,

I would sure like to know if these rumors are true or when we might know if they are true. Along with the MYFord touch. I may be in the market again for another Taurus and can wait until Sept or Oct if I must for a 12. But if its not going to happen or it is a late availablity in 2012, there is no need to wait if I decide on another Taurus.

So is Myford touch that much better than the regular Nav in the Taurus? I was actually considering an Edge over the SHO because of that feature

I got to see it at my dealer when a Ford rep was there training the sales staff on it. I didn't see all of it, but I thought the programmable dash was really cool. :boink:

You all must have some remarkable dealers. I personally feel I have a great relationship with mine. And I'm also confident if I ever decided to "Mod" the PCM and there was any power train or drive line issue, I would be paying for it myself.

Ford's argument being the broken part wasn't designed or engineered for the higher torque or HP that your mod pit into the equation.

I might consider it seriously after the warranty period, but not during.

Some dealers are willing to work with you if you are up front with them about planned mods and get their input.

We have several local dealers that still perform warranty work on modded cars. We even have a dealership that we build 5th Gen Camaro's for. A stock Camaro makes around 370 RWHP. We do heads, cam, headers, exhaust, and supercharger and they make 640-650 RWHP and they sell them new on the showroom floor.

A car I always use as an example is a Corvette Convertible we built for a customer. The car was modded when it had only 40 miles. The customer planned to street race it and basically beat it like he stole it. It had ported heads, camshaft, longtube headers, and a ProCharger supercharger making 650 RWHP through an auto and running well into the 10's in the 1/4 mile on drag radials. The customer asked that we remove torque management. In a car at that power level, we felt it still needed some to live, but he insisted otherwise and we removed it. After several months, the trans broke. He took it to the dealer and they warrantied it no questions asked.

We ran some 2012's, PI's, they look exactly the same. Now these werent SHO's but visually, they look the same. So if they changed it, I couldn't tell. And the person that does the radio is pretty close to were I work, I didn't see any mytouch's when he installed parts on the 2012's. That doesn't mean it won't change, but as of now, from what I've seen, minor changes u can't see from 20ft.

So you think waiting till the 2012's might just be a waste of time and a form of torture to those waiting?:splat:

people that are really concerned with breaking their engine or trans from a tune should poke around the forums a bit. I have not read any transmission issues other than a couple center diff problems that seemed to be production issues rather than a part failure. And I think 2 broken engines that I can think of. One on a stock car and one that I thought was pushed a bit too far in the tune. I don't follow the 4th gens super close so I could be wrong. From where I sit the tunes are a proven item.

The info, supposedly leaked from an insider, (no one will admit to it of course) was that the 2012 SHO model is the only one that will have those changes/upgrades, including the appearance, to further differentiate it from all the other Tauri.

You could be rite. Like I said we haven't ran any SHO's that I know of. But I'm thinking that u may be able to get the SHO wheels on a regular Taurus cause the 1s we ran had the 20s from the SHO. But who knows the could have been just testing. I looked for some 2012s today with no luck. When your looking 4 it, u can't find it.

Was one of those a Bordeaux Red Limited with SHO wheels? Did it have Dual exhausts? Was it like the one spied:
