I did a quick search and couldn't find anything quickly.

Besides color choices has anything changed between 2010 and 2011 SHO's?

In addition has there been any confirmed rumors about a 2012 freshing of the SHO and what that might include?

I have heard that the SHO might get a 400HP PCM update. From everything I heard in the past, our trannys can't withstand the torque and power from a higher HP motor.

So what gives. Can some more knowledgeable members enlighten me please.

It is all just rumor at this point; the 2012 Taurus might get the MyFord Touch system, too.

I know that the TPMS (Tire Pressure Sensors) are different. On the 2010 they are attached by a band on the wheel opposite the valve stem On the 2011 they are attached to the valve stem... They are also incompatible with each other.....

i saw the 2011's have the button for the massage function in the front corner of the seat instead of the confusing spot above the buttox adjustment

Is this confirmed? I just ordered a 2011 SHO but i am really intrigued by the MyFord touch tough. I heard the Taurus was not getting it until maybe 2013 at the earliest.

Nothing is confirmed yet. Myfortouch is cool but I wouldnt hold out a year just for that. I would hold out if they decided to make some cosmetic changes, but I can't see that happening until 2013-2014.

I've driven 2 seperate '11 Edge's with the MyTouch. Although the screen is different from my '10 SHO (blue home screen), I think there's to much crap being displayed on the MyTouch. I also could not find, speech wise, or otherwise, the weather function on the MyTouch. That could have been my fault, but I couldn't find it. Just my $.02...

The coolest part of MyFord Touch is the configurable instrument panel, with (on the Edge, at least) a central physical speedometer flanked by LCD screens on either side. You decide what's displayed on the LCD screens using twin 5-way controllers on the steering wheel.

One might hope that the performance-oriented SHO would get cool things like HP and torque screens...we'll see. This obviously involves a major redesign of the instrument panel.

As another poster has noted, though, I wouldn't hold out until 2012 just for this feature.

Unfortunately I am alittle leary about the whole warranty issue!

So was I but after having the tune and seeing the differences and being reassured that the my servicing dealer didn't see it as a problem...I felt it was worth it. After having it, I can't imagine driving without it, and there is no negative things I have found since the Livernois Stage 2 tune....you have no idea what you are missing. Besides, after having tuned my 98 F-150 and my 07 Lincoln Mark LT, without any warranty issues or hassles from 2 different dealers, coupled with the positive feedback here from others with the Livernois tune, I felt there wouldn't be a problem. Besides, Rick from Livernois has provided the people on this forum with OUTSTANDING customer service and quick responses when anything has arisen about their products.

You all must have some remarkable dealers. I personally feel I have a great relationship with mine. And I'm also confident if I ever decided to "Mod" the PCM and there was any power train or drive line issue, I would be paying for it myself.

Ford's argument being the broken part wasn't designed or engineered for the higher torque or HP that your mod pit into the equation.

I might consider it seriously after the warranty period, but not during.

I completely understand your thinking and don't have any arguement with your reasoning. But just want to say that first, I'm not going to put words in the mouth of a dealer or Ford and what they "might" say...although again, I understand and appreciate your fear. And yes I do have great relationships with my dealers..but it is a two-way street. Every Christmas I try to get a gift (a case of beer or soda) for all the mechanics (small dealership) and also offer assistance to the sales people if they need to use a reference in making a sale of one of our traded vehicles...seems to work in the long run the dealers I use have really went out of their way to assist me when I needed help. But I'm betting once you do the tune you'll be kicking yourself for waiting.

Correct me if I'm wrong...Between the 2010 and 2011, the differences are harder to spot as Ford seems to have made continual updates/changes to the 2010's as the year progressed. For instance, from what I've gathered, the early 2010's didn't have a trunk pull down strap and the gear indicator on the console was clear. The later 2010's have this trunk pull down strap and the gear indicator on the console is matte black.
Also, in reading the TSB's, they indicate that changes were made throughout as well as they are applicable based on build date instead of just 'model year'. Take a look at those TSB's here in the maintenance section (great info there).
I read an article somewhere about this continual improvement model that Ford is now using. As reports come in from the dealers to Ford, if something needs to be changed, they take that change to the assembly line. I think these changes and updates are good and surely help the product in regards to customer satisfaction and quality, however, it seems like it would be harder on the service and parts guys as you can no longer just base diagnosis on model year.
In regards to 2012, I'm not sure there will be a HP increase. Seems that if there was more HP to be found, Ford would have introduced it on the F150 and on the new police interceptor models. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll find out here in a few months. I do expect Ford will introduce MyFord Touch to the Taurus for the 2012 refresh. But, based on the latest ratings/complaints, they most likely will fine tune that system further.

.

I think you are correct about continually improving. My car was built 11/30/09 and was #4536 of 7114 SHOs built for 2010 so I would say it was well past the midway point of 2010's built. Mine has the matte black indicator but does not have the pull down strap. I am sure this is a Job 1 car. So apparently they changed the gear indicator during Job 1 production but more then half of the SHO's were built before Job 2 cars were made...I don't know how this fits in with total Taurus numbers, but I'm willing to bet that Job 2 began somewhere in the middle of total Taurus production numbers.
