Buy stock stuff and be happy unless you really like rasp.

On another note cmichaelo's car sounds great, you can just repeat that setup :)

I have a Dynomax catback with a catless y-pipe on my '90 and it sounds very good with barely any rasp.

It really makes the SHO sound like nothing else.

there were mumblings in the ECOSHO section about chambered mufflers not being ideal for V6s and that using one is not condusive to good and happy sounds from a SHO...considering the way most V6 SHOs sound (like ass), i'm thinking of swapping out my flowmaster for a fart cannon or some other straight through design...oh, and while Ernie's race car may be the best sounding, methinks you'd get pulled over frequently for it, not to mention mandatory hearing protection...

Has anyone ever used a straight through muffler? Most of the mufflers used by us tend to be the stuff (dynomax/borla/flowmaster/magnaflow/mustang gt ****'s)

Not much variety.

Here's my car:

Just some cheapo mufflers from a local exhaust shop, no other exhaust work done. I like the sound at idle but when it climbs in rpm it has some rasp. After warming up, it's less rapy (video done while it was cold).

My SHO has a straight through Magnaflow and it still sounds like ass.
No resonator though...

if I wanted to go with a quieter muffler I'd do the dynomax super turbo mufflers, they really don't sound that bad on a SHO, atleast inside the car.

If I want a louder muffler the next one to try on the SHO is the cherry bomb extreme muffler

there is a lot of variety of exhausts on SHO's, just because one doesn't use a particular brand name doesn't mean much, mufflers are pretty basic in their configurations....

you have things like the dynomax super turbo and a lot of other OEM mufflers are sort of like this with tubes that route the ehxuast back and forth through the muffler....

then you have things like the Magnaflows, Dynomax has one with the same style, the Mustang GT is the same basic thing, even a cherrybomb is the same type of construction, the magnaflow just has more packing in it.

then you have your chambered style exhausts, like flowmaster, gibson, the cherry bomb extreme... but some have different number or styles of baffles to create different kinds of noise. There is even a moroso spiral flow muffler that is like a small resonator that would be cool to hear what it sounds like....

almost all mufflers out there can be classified into these 3 groups
