1991 Alternator / Battery Light comes on

When I started the car yesterday the Alternator (the little battery light on the dash came on) it went off after 5 minutes or so and never came back on , this morning it stayed on for a minute or so , my question is what could it be , brushes? regulator , how can I tell , thanks in advance for the info.

Check for loose wiring to the regulator as well as the B+ cable going to the starter.

my b+ wire shorted out and wouldnt let my system charge..if that fails most likely ur alt
