Just purchased some tires to fit my fit my OEM mesh wheels. Got'em from Tire Rack. Have not mounted them yet. I'm having second thoughts about returning them and going with aftermarket wheels and tires. Any opinions on size/looks ... looking at 16's or 17's, must be purchased from Tire Rack.

Thanks! (Trying to maintain a budget too!!)

17x7 17x8 are really doable. I have 18x8 on my 91. What you have to look at is the offset. I think anywhere in the 38-42 offset range will work.

Thanks for the reply! (Still love your car, lol). I'll search Tire Rack for some 17's. Good to know that they will fit right. The previous owner had newer SHO wheels I think?

Here's mine.

slicers are a good choice and 16s are not particularly expensive as tires go.

Ok. Good deal. Here are the current wheels on the car:

Any idea what they are? Or what year SHO they came from? 16"

Those wheels are from the standard Taurus Gen IV's and appear to be painted as they are normally silver. When looking at aftermarket wheels, be sure to check the offset so you don't have to roll your fenders

The original 15s have the most sidewall, which really helps if you live in an area with bad roads. The way things are going, bad roads are becoming the norm.

If you have the basket weaves, I would use them.

The rims on the car now look alot better in their original colour.

My brother said the same thing. Yes I have the orig. Basket weaves, great shape too. Plus the new tires are already here. Perhaps that is the best option for now. And yes, my local roads are terrible (upstate, ny)...

The only downside to using the original basket weaves is you cannot have bigger brakes. Do you know if the previous owner converted the car over to the gen3 front brake setup? It's a very common mod and if so, the basket weaves won't fit.

basket weaves will fit over 11" rotors on the factory 94/5 .
while less than the 11.6" , still a lot better than the 10"
what size front rotors do you have?

What part of Houston are you in? I used to live in the Webster/Kemah area. I loved my time in TX.
