Not sure if this is the right place to place this post but here goes anyway.

My wife has a current red 1989 SHO. She bought it new and has been the only driver. I guess we can truly say that it has only been driven to church and shopping by a little old lady (she is 68). It has 79,000 miles and everything works on it, even the R12 AC system. It has always been garaged, never driven in snow and still looks very, very good. No dings, paint looks great. Interior shows almost no wear except for the drivers seat bolster. Back seat has not been used. Everything is original except for tires and the clutch was replaced as part of a recall years ago.

She wants to sell it so what do the folks on this forum think would be a fair asking price considering its history?

Thanks for any replies.

At least $1800-2100. I will buy it.

Welcome to the forum. If you decide to sell the car, you will need to pay for a classified ad. If it is truly clean as you say, and verified orig owner, there is no reason the car will not bring some decent money. FWIW, I purchased a black 89 with 102k, 2nd owner car, in VGC, for a little over $3000. So yours could likely bring a good bit more, in the $5000+ range if it is in exceptional shape, maybe more if you find the right buyer.

Wow. That actually sounds like that would be really sought after. I'm sure someone will buy it!

post pics & at what mileage was original clutch replaced at? do you have service records from day 1?
'fair asking price' is much more related to condition, maintenance & mileage than history. IF Everything IS still Original, within its next 10-20K miles you can expect to do an upper & front 100K & all suspension parts will be needing a replacement. 1.5-3K depending on all the above.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Gives me an idea as to what to do. We are in no hurry. We may give e-bay a trial run and see where that goes. My son suggested taking it to fall Carlisle. The local Ford dealer was even interested in giving us above book value on trade. Not sure we are interested in purchasing a new car though.

Whatever you do, don't trade it in at a Ford dealer. You'll get much more money out of a private sale. Someone on here will pay good money for a clean, original car like that. In addition, it will be taken care of if it goes to a forum member.

I think you will get the most money from selling it either on SHOforum or ebay

must have detailed pictures all around, documentation, etc....

without this I bet you could sell it for 2 grand

with all of that stuff, and its original miles and a cream puff garage queen with no rust at all.... I bet you its a good $7500 car, just have to find that right buyer as always.
