Thinking of picking up these wheels for a present for my sho when it comes out of its winter sleep. with the 8" width do you think I'll be fine with a 38mm offset or would I still need spacers?

There is no reason you would need spacers. Depening on what tire width you go with, there is a slight possiblity you may need to roll your rear fenders.'

oh ok cool. well I guess I'll just wait for a few more posts backing up the 38mm offset because that is what I think is correct, before I go ahead and pull the trigger on these.

Agreed... the 45 is more for an 18" wheel... but my 245 / 40 / 18 's do touch the fender... and I did have to cut / roll it.. that being said... I'm sitting on some Intrax springs and I'm a little lower. Even then.. if my trunk is empty it wont touch.. only with people in the back does it get close to touching.

You wouldn't even be able to bolt up an 8" wheel with a 45mm offset, let alone with a tire on it. Both sets of 17x8s that I have are offset 38mm.

On another note, I wasn't aware the Enkei made a 17x8" wheel for the SHO.

It appears the EDR9 is the only Model. Everything else is 7.5'', Unless you go to a 19'' wheel.

LoL well you just said they don't fit... and they do.. just not very well.. lol

Here is another difference I just noticed... I have 92 rear vented rotors... I wonder what that does.. because my tires seem pretty similiar to your front pic there, not that close in the rear.

Maybe thats the 38 / 42 = 4 mm difference? I dunno... just adding reference.. not bein funny or anything... I remember going through this wondering if these wheels and tires I have got.... had to buy a car to get em.. and I wanted to know they fit.

He said a 8'' Wide wheel with a 45mm Offset would not fit. A 8'' wide 42mm Is already close enough to the struts, A 45mm Wheel is going to hit.

My thinking was see if it would fit hoping it would be closer to the strut than the fender, and if it did touch, it would be easy enough to use a 2 or 3 mm spacer. I started with a spacer, and it was still pretty close... and it still wasnt enough with a full trunk and two people in the backseat to save my tires... I spent $400 putting some new tires on mine after I shaved a little off the outside edge of my tires, when it looked like it would clear..

I ended up pulling the spacers out, and grinding off some of the fender. I have yet to hear it touch... then again I havent had a few extra people in the trunk either. I would bet a good portion of it comes from the lower springs. If it was a little higher it would be another inch higher wouldn't it?

I have been looking around but cant find the offset. I am pretty sure they are 18x8.

yeah the EDR9 is what that model is, its the newer version of the CDR9 that I know a few people ran, and still do run to this day.

but the best thing that I like about the EDR9's is that they come factory black whereas you could only get the CDR9 (now discontinued) in silver.
