That depends. The BASIC 60K engine service includes replacing the spark plugs and checking the gaps between the cam lobes and the shims for each of the 24 valves. That is for both 3.0L and 3.2L engines. For the 3.0L, the 60K also includes replacing the timing belt and the accessory belts. For the 3.2L the timing belt and accessory belt are replaced on a 100K mile interval.
These services also provide most of the labor to access and replace several other key parts. These parts include the following:
During the valve gapping
- Valve cover and spark plug well seals
- Spark plug wires
- thermostat, if needed
- oxygen sensors, recommended with new spark plugs
During the timing belt change
- Water pump
- Front main crankshaft oil seal
- Crankshaft position sensor
- Lower radiator hose, if needed
These parts can be obtained through auto parts stores and internet vendors for much less than from Ford. If you would like the list of sources and prices for each of these parts, I can provided that.
