I just bought the car 2 weeks ago and I started noticing when putting the car in reverse sometimes it clunks. The park aid was on could that be the reason? It only does it sometimes. I am taking it to the dealer Wednesday to see what they say. Has anyone else experienced this issue. Thanks

My '13 will do that after I put it in reverse and turning the wheel... No idea what it would be but a bit irritating.

It does it for me backing straight up and turning the wheel as well. It is very irritating especially since I just got it. I wanna see what ford says I don't see how that could be normal at all. Thanks for the replys

So is the clunk when you put the car in R or when the car is actually moving? Turning the wheel while the car is in motion? Is the clunk from the rear or front of the car? Can you stop the noise by applying brakes?

Mine is moving after the shift, feels like rear of the car. Not from steering.

I've owned a ton of Fords, and literally every single one does the reverse clunk. Just a Ford thing. It was so bad in my 11 Mustang I had to take it in though. They eventually put all new solenoids in it and it wasn't as bad, but was still existent. My SHO does it sometimes too as did all of my previous 5 ford's, and my buddies 07 f150 does it too. More of an annoyance than something to be worried about causing damage.

If there is a problem, most likely a) pcm/tcm programming needs to be brought up to date, or b) the RDU is low on fluid (and/or has prior instances of leakage). Check struts for leaks also. Too early in life probably for the 2013+, but you never know. One other oddity: the spoiler holddown sometimes comes loose, so check that both sides are properly secured.

Mine is when it is moving as well and it's coming from the rear also. It only does it for a second and that's it. Could need a program not sure though. Gotta see what ford says Wednesday could just be like what you guys said that its ford thing. It's very annoying that's for sure. Appreciate the replys

I didn't see you mentioned it happens after. So you put it in reverse, you start moving backwards and then it clunks from the rear? Yeah I'd guess something weird with the rear differential possibly. Hopefully you can replicate it on the spot or the dealer will say nothing we can do.

Like I said only happened to me a couple of times, but it sounds like suspension to me, almost like a rubber grommet that's kind of loose, I can't see a thing wrong under my car and all suspension components seem tight and no unusual wear that I can see and always comes from the passenger side rear. Also getting a slight tire rub type sound from same side while driving, it too has only happened a few times, looked and no tire rubing apparent. I'm scratching my head too.?????
