02 Sensors Maybe

hey guys, quick question for ya, im smelling gas out of my exhaust, while its running, im wondering if its possibly the 02 sensors, im not throwing a code for a CEL light or anything, i was curious if anyone has had this problem or anything, i am also getting horrible gas mileage, like im talking 200 miles on a tank of GAS at the most, and i know i should be getting a lot more then that, granted thats in town driving, but still, we are what like a 14 gallon tank

I was getting around 16-18 miles per gallon at the most with my 94 atx sho with just 111000 miles on it. I had to do the 60k on top and front of engine. Still got the same mileage afterwards. I had been smelling a slight gast odor out the exhaust lately and then the o2 sensors went out . It would hardly run and drank gas. Dont even bother testing them just get 2 new ones and install them. My check engine lite wasnt coming on either. I only drive this car to work and back which is about 30 miles round trip. If you have a atx I used Bosch # 15716 from NAPA and they were $46.49 each

so what did your mileage improve to after you installed the new O2 sensors?

Just changed them 2 days before fillup.

The SHO should have an 18.6 gallon fuel tank and there should be memory codes for O2 sensors not switching or always rich/lean if there is a sensor problem. The O2 sensors should be replaced at the same intervals as the spark plugs or every 60,000 miles. How old are the sensors? If they are older than 60,000 miles, even if you aren't seeing O2 sensor codes, you should replace them with them with the following. Prices may vary.

So far as near as I can tell after driving it this weekend is the gas mileage has gone from around 16-18 to almost 23 . Yea for me.
