Anyone know what the leanest cylinder is??

Lean burn has a lot more to do with fuel delivery than air delivery. As mentioned above, the SHO's air intake does a magnificent job of delivering a balanced amount of air to each cylinder. The fuel system on the other hand can vary the amount of fuel delivered to each cylinder by quite a...

    RWD Conversion for Gen 3

The only problem with front engine, rear wheel drive setup will be the tunnel. The Taurus uses multiple layers of sheet metal under and in front of your feet as a "frame". If you attempt to take those out or modify them, you will first have to build a new frame somewhere else to support the...

    RWD Conversion for Gen 3

Ok, this is a really ambitious project so I will throw in my 2 cents worth. You are going to go through a lot of fabrication and end up with a rear wheel drive Ford. There's a zillion of those out there. For all the effort, you could take another engine, transaxle and subframe and put it in...

    Knock sensor

It's rare for the actual sensor to go out but common for critters to want to build a nest in the V of the engine, where the knock sensor resides. They wake up hungry and are too lazy to go out to dinner so they eat in. If you're getting the noise from the chain tensioner end of the valve...

Code 85 - How to trick ECM into thinking valve is present

Do you have the original valve? Put it back in but don't plumb it in. It is just a coil that opens a valve that lets gas fumes be sucked into the intake on a regular basis. The computer doesn't know if anything is going through that valve. Simple. Tom

    Cooling fan bypass wiring

I was wrong, again! The 3.0 and 3.2 SHO's have their CCRM's cooling fan inputs Hot at all times through a 50 amp fuse so you will need at least an 8 guage wire and a 50 amp fuse feeding your new relay. The trip wire for a 3.0 PCM is indeed pin 55 but I don't know what the PCM is sending out on...

    Cooling fan bypass wiring

No, that's not what that diagram shows. He still has the battery feed on the battery side of the relay switch and not on the fan side of the switch. The PCM can't pass through enough current to drive fans or fuel pumps so it sends a ground to a fan that already has power through it and almost...

    Cooling fan bypass wiring

I don't think the PCM reads, a Short across the two wires the same way you and I do. For some reason I thought the SHO fan is always hot and the PCM sends a ground to start the fan. I don't have my EVTM nearby. Tom

stupid mistake - timing cover bolts

Now I remember better. The Crank sensor harness has a plastic flange with a hole in it taped to it. The hole slips over a stud-bolt that holds the water pump to the block. That keeps the harness away from the spinny things. Tom

stupid mistake - timing cover bolts

I believe the crank sensor wire is held onto the middle timing cover by way of a rubber grommet that fits in a slot in the cover. Tom

    headers for 3.0 sho

Is your engine oriented north south in your buggy, using a VW style transaxle? If so, you might call Extreme Performance buggys in California. They put a lot of SHO engines in buggies back in the day. I don't know if their still in business or not. You might also try a search for SHO +...

    SHO ford probe project

I don't think that is how the DIS is grounded. That is how the ground is fed to another device that needs it. The DIS is grounded itself throughone or two of the mounting screws, through the crossover tube, to the mounting bracket of the crossover tube, to the braided flat wire to the...

SHO 3.0 in a rail buggy

What he^ said. I put my PCM behind the passenger seat in a box. That box also has the DIS, relays and fuse panel. I would not recommend this location for the DIS though, I had to run 52 wires to run my engine. Not worth it just to have a clean crosover tube. Tom
