94 SHO Struts/Shocks What make/model will do the best for me. In changing them, should any other parts be changed? 80k miles

Hello,
My 1994 SHO 3.0L needs new shocks and struts. I'm the second owner bought it about 4000 miles ago. Can anyone suggest a good shock/strut to install? I'm a little above average mechanically and want to save the $1100 labor bill by a local shop.
Are there any other parts that should be changed at the same time? It steers well and nothing seems lose but I find there are many parts options but I want to be sure of specific ones for the SHO ride.
Thanks,
Matt

I use Gabriel Ultras on my '91 to replace the Konis I had. I have heard the rear OEM Motorcraft are still available.
I hated the Monroe OE Spectrum I tried just before the Gabriels - they were too soft.

imho the Monroe quick struts are not very good - they are too stiff on small bumps and too soft on large bumps so it does not ride that well.
