Water Pump/Phaser/Etc Job Helpful Advice or Tips

Few more questions: 1) Has Ford changed the crank pulley bolt part number or part? I know it's one time use, but the bolt I pulled out of the pulley was almost double the length of the bolt I bought. Seems like same amount of threads, but a bunch of blank metal after on the original. Somehow...

    Possible water pump failure

I'd send an oil analysis sample to Blackstone. I was recommended to do that here, and they flag any antifreeze found in the oil which is how I was able to confirm my pump was going.

Water Pump/Phaser/Etc Job Helpful Advice or Tips

Few weekends in, my father and I are a pretty meticulous and cautious and not super quick but I still am amazed I think this is quoted as a 16 hour job, feel bad for the poor sucker at a dealership that has to do this in that time. The initial battle is just getting every hose fuel line and...

Water Pump/Phaser/Etc Job Helpful Advice or Tips

Hey all. I've had the SHO beached in our shop for a bit, waiting for me and my dad to have enough weekend free time to start cracking it open and doing pump and phasers. Never saw real visible weep but the Blackstone reports kept coming each 2k miles with more coolant being detected and the...

    Doing Coolant Diagnostics, Any Advice

Did some diagnostics today. No trace of anything coming from the weep. We tried a block test, but initially used 16 year old liquid without thinking about it, test turned green with some bubbles terrifying me. Checked plugs, looked decent enough for two year old plugs, scoped inside the...

    Doing Coolant Diagnostics, Any Advice

That's my fear. Guess I won't know until I get it up on the lift, which is 30 minutes away so I'm hoping that's not a gamble. Blackstone's words were: Hoping that with such a small amount, and the lack of change in oil level or anything visible on the dipstick, I might be blessed with a cracked...

    Doing Coolant Diagnostics, Any Advice

This weekend I plan on doing a coolant pressure test, and just general diagnostics for leaks. Last oil change, Blackstone Analysis showed very marginal levels of coolant detected in my oil, not enough to cause wear or affect viscosity. At that point I remember my reservoir levels were ok, and I...

    Blackstone Oil Results, Marginal Coolant

I just got my first Blackstone results, and while originally was concerned about fuel dilution, was hit with a left hook that there's some coolant in my oil. This was changed at 77k after about 3k miles, had used Royal Purple that round but switched back to Amsoil when refilling. Positive for...

    Transmission Too Hot?

Oh wow seems I've been nerfing my driving habits for months now, this is quite enlightening (and yes Mercon LV, typo). Thank you guys for the info! In the interest of reliability, in terms of upgrades, is it common/wise to upgrade the cooler to maybe one from the PP? Or would there be potential...

    Transmission Too Hot?

Hey all. I blew my TC back in November, and had to get my trans rebuilt. Since then, I've paid more attention to trans temps, and have noticed on most days be it 50F outside or 80F, the trans just seems to run too hot. Over the course of a 30 minute drive to or from work, with light traffic and...

    Symptoms of Leaky Injector

Hey all, currently on the GH e30 tune, which the car has handled well over the years. Recently, I've noticed if the car sits for a few days, it's started to have a momentary stumble upon cold start. Long term fuel trims look normal, 1.03 ish, but on startup after it leaves open loop, short-term...

Rapid Fire Front End Squeak On H&R Springs Over Bumps

UPDATE: Found it. It ended up not being a bushing or suspension component at all, but somehow, maybe the last time I replaced the headlight bulbs, or my transmission guy, or just another time myself or someone had the front lip/floor unattached, or even just due to another plastic piece of the...

Rapid Fire Front End Squeak On H&R Springs Over Bumps

Had the car aligned today, asked them to take a look and let me know if anything looks amiss, but it came back with a clean bill, and they weren't able to get up to high enough speeds to replicate the sounds. That's the most frustrating part about this sound, unlike nearly every front squeak...

Rapid Fire Front End Squeak On H&R Springs Over Bumps

Correct, as far as I've tested the sound doesn't change at all taking a right or left turn. It doesn't really reveal itself until up to about 40 mph, and often on smoother roads is unnoticeable, but if the road is coarse or one of those highway roads that has a section edge every 20 ft or so, it...

Rapid Fire Front End Squeak On H&R Springs Over Bumps

Honestly thinking about this on the way home, the first thing I want to do is check the torque spec on the strut tower bolts.
