SHO Explosion!!!!!!!!!!

Does your 'Check Engine' light go out while cranking? If not this indicates no PIP signal to the ignition module. In this case I would guess crank sensor as well. Good luck.

    Would a bad IAB......

The only way to know for sure would be to hook up a mechanical fuel pressure gauge to the fuel pressure schrader valve on the fuel rail and watch the pressure when you turn on the key. Hopefully you can duplicate the concern while the gauge is hooked up. If the gauge does not build up pressure...

Could someone please tell me what sensor this is and where to get it.

If it were the knock sensor it would have more than one wire - I'm thinking it's the oil pressure switch as well.

    Confused new SHO owner...

Sounds like you've got your hands full! The CEL could be O2 sensors or EGR system if your car is equipped with one. As for the ABS problem - I would inspect all the wheel speed sensors and make sure none of them is bent - I have seen many sensor in various cars in my line of work at a Ford...

    transmission problem

Does the tranmission go into reverse alright? I'm guessing that there may be something binding inside the transmisison if the cables and other exterior linkage look ok. With the cables unhooked from the transmission does the shifter move back easy? I don't think it would be a synchro - 1&2...

    Would a bad IAB......

SHO Timer, I am also thinking that your problem lies in your fuel pump. My '89 had the same symptoms when i first bought it. I noticed the fuel pump seemed noisy (the first sign of trouble). The first hot weather I encountered the pump failed. I have never had the same symptoms since I...

    Transmission/Clutch Problem

Does the shifter only feel tight to move when the car is running or does it do it all the time? If so it could be a linkage problem. Good luck.

    tranny leak\seal question

Yes, that is the correct torque spec as per my '89 Ford service manual. As far as the sealant, I used Motorcraft Gasket Eliminator (PN E1FZ-19562-A) which I believe is made by Permatex and should be available from your local NAPA etc. Hope this helps you out. wink

Thanks, Kerry. I guess if anyone is interested, I have 2 sets of 3.2L head gaskets for sale. :)

    installing heads

I realize that you can't use 3.0L gaskets on the 3.2L but what about going the other way??? [ January 02, 2003, 08:47 PM: Message edited by: smacd ]

DOes you're CEL go out while you are cranking the engine? If so it is getting a signal from the crank pos sensor.

The Runs Like Crap Saga Pt1

A plugged fuel filter will not cause the MIL light to come on. When the light comes on is the engine still running or has it stalled? I would probably start with checking all connections and ground wires around your battery terminal. An intermittent loss of ground or power may cause problems...

    oil change.....new noise.....

It sounds like you have a similar noise to one that mine has. I was wondering if it may be the timing chain at the rear of the cylinder head being a little slack. Has anyone ever run accross problems with the tensioner that would cause such a problem? Mine has made the noise ever since I...

More questions on spun rod bearings

WOW, what a thread! I have seen excessive bearing clearance cause oil to turn black in a short time because the piston moving up and down hammers the s#@t out of it, but I have never seen one that did not have any noticeable noise to make a failed bearing obvious. My money is on the valve...
