Like terri said we will poll every one this year at the event---( before every one gets drunk )----- to see how we should progress on this , our first priority is to try to get the SHO as one of the feature cars, and then maybe we will try to get different classes set up (once our preregistration numbers are up )

by the way are you coming to all ford this year? did not get any info from you

Jeff

Of course I'm going...I haven't missed an All Fords Show in the last 20 years. (I actually booked my room for '08 BEFORE I left Carlisle last year!) I emailed Terri back in January to propose the idea of having more classes of SHO's at the All Fords Nationals because there were so many cars entered last year. Having around 40 cars in a single class just doesn't make sense to me. Dividing up the class into V-8 and V-6 cars would be a start. Carlisle is more than willing to do this, but we need to organize ourselves to accomplish this.

When I signed up, I had the choice of stock, modified, and race/pro street. I took the road less traveled, I think.

I guess Carlisle Productions would break us into classes if they thought there were too many in one particular class.

Gene -
As I said, I am fine with this if you wish to coordinate it.

I personally do not have the time to commit to making it work.

The opportunity for three folks to win (really 9) is certainly nicer than just one.

I don't know that Carlisle is going to want to give us enough space to divide between stock and modified as well.

Keep in mind that some "popular voters" can't stand poring through a bazillion classes of the same car.

Not that my opinion counts an awful lot, but, I'm just happy hanging with a bunch of like-minded knuckleheads for a well-deserved long lost weekend.

Personally, Carlisle is the only vacation I've taken for the past 20+ years - period.

Last year I was too damn blasted Saturday morning (when I was the first to show up) to even wipe my car down. Not to take anything away from those who pristinely detail their cars, FWIW I'd like mine to look half as good as yours.

RE: the separate classes (stock vs. modified vs. etc...), while I don't see the need personally I certainly don't want to deny the opportunity to someone who wants to spend the time and energy to move that forward. Looking through our field last year there were some incredible examples of what can be done with this car. If I had my way, everyone who turned out would receive an award.

From the outside looking in, I believe it would make sense to line the cars up by generation - if only for those who know nothing about the cars to be able to separate the three factory gens.

By doing so, we could then spotlight not only the differences between the gens, but accentuate the differences separating them from the ultra-modified (i.e Gen IV).

Again, my opinion. I'm with Kris - let's just all get together and make each year another year to remember.

Not really...The show director was happy to discuss the situation, and was interested to learn about the natural differences between the three generations of SHO's. He agreed that separating the cars by generation would be a good way to eliminate a repeat of what happened last year. The only requirement is that we have to have enough cars registered before May 19th for it to happen.

But, was that from starting too early Saturday, or drowning Friday night's hangover?

Is it possible (provided there's sufficient registration to warrant multiple classes) that Carlisle designate the classes and simply provide us with a big enough area for the number of SHO/SHO-related registrants - and we organize ourselves based on what we're provided?

thats what I been saying this whole time........

if we get a great number of cars this year we can show carlisle that we have the numbers with out preregistration numbers to break them down in classes , and we have a whole year on the planning on this .

Gene I don't know if I ever talked to you directly but i started threads here to get people interested in JAN. of this year if you wanted to do this just ask early everything is doable but we just need time to do it.

Yeah, maybe. I don't know about the future of car shows at Carlisle or anywhere else. Some "experts" are predicting the cost of a barrel of oil will continue to rise, and could reach $200 by next year. If people can't afford gas to get there, Carlisle will be just a memory for a lot of folks. Just for reference, the cost of a barrel of oil last year at this time was about 1/2 of what it is now.

as long as I'm able to go i will go to all Ford at Carlisle,( I am down at carlisle at least 3 to 4 times a year for different events/I'm 3+HR away from Carlisle ) there will always be car shows and People will go to them, no matter the cost, Members here make the national sho club event every year don't they????

I can't make the national because of my work (can't get enough time off for the travel and yes money did factor in for me not going last year, I have to trailer to events like that ) and yes gas will factor in for a lot of thing people do, but for some of us its a great time and a vacation going to Carlisle. and People will still go on vacation.

Mels <whistling>
I was about to post the same question!!!
Jeff - I'm glad you were willing to be the self-appointed keeper of the count. You can count chknhwk as registered even tho he won't be there with a car...
How many do we have so far, and how many can we get in the next 10 days?
:thankyou:

I'm hoping to go to Carlisle events in the future too, Jeff. Oil just hit another all time high today, and a weak dollar continues to add to the problem. The good news is that a survey of oil industry executives that was just released finds that 55% of those polled believe that the cost oil will return to around $100/barrel (or less) by next spring...Whether we will see any significant drop in prices at the pump by next year remains to be seen. It will be interesting to see if the elections later this year will have any impact on the market.
