Motor seems to turn over too easy.

Now that the k-frame is out i started on pulling apart the front of the motor for the water pump and CPS.

I turned the motor to top dead center with a breaker bar on the bolt of the crank pulley. It moves alot easier then i had expected. My cousin who is more into carb'd v8s thinks it turns too easy. Is this because hes using old v8's for reference?

should it still be pretty tough to turn it even using a breaker bar? Its Like theres little to no compression, or thats how it feels using the breaker bar.

I started the car and pulled it in the garage prior to the pull. Upon first start up it had a weak tap only under slight load that diminished once the car warmed up a little. I figured it was normal after sitting the entire winter and that i was replacing the rod bearings anyway. Once warm i revd it to maybe 3,000 a couple times in the course of putting it in the garage without any more noises, and It felt like it ran fine. The car has always seemed a bit weak to me but i've never driven another 5spd SHO.

I am doing this will the trans/clutch is removed. Only thing left on that side is the flywheel. Would this cause it to turn easy?

Im nervous that all this work will be in vein if this motor is too tired. I really dont know what should feel normal. How is a compression test done? Does the car have to be running? Thanks

I guess it depends on the length of the breaker bar. If it's a 2 foot or longer bar, yeah it will turn very easily. If it's a short bar, you should be able to feel the compression.
