Hey guys I am getting ready to upgrade my exhaust and I was thinking of going with the MagnaFlow Y pipe from SHOsource I was just wondering if anyone has gone with this and what they though of it is it worth it or not?

I was alos wondering what would be the best Mufflers to go with and what is the best size Diameter to run the exhaust size all the way back? I have read that going with 2.5" is not always better for these cars? I was looking around on the V8 site and i saw some info on Borla? was there a cat back system that they made for the genIII at some point?

Thank you

I would leave the stock piping other, possibly delete the third cat if you'd like and just weld in some mufflers. I believe NebraskaSHO did something different with his piping from the axle back. Flowmasters are great for sound from what I've heard. I have Magnaflow's and love them. Borla's, and Bullitt Mufflers are other options. Choose your weapon. Depends on what kind of sound you're looking for. Good luck!

I simply removed the mufflers from mine. Put a pair of 3" tips on the stock piping and she sounds like a demon incarnate.

I have two flowmaster 40 series with the cats still in place, sounds good without too much bark. Ran it for a week with no mufflers, it was fun, but too loud inside, sounds killer though.

Sounds like everyone has a little bit different setup on there cars. Is anyone using the Magna Flow Y pip with teh High Flow cats from SHOsource? I was thinking about going to this but is it worth the money?

I haven't seen a set of these but the OEM Y pipe has a nasty kink on the back bank downpipe.

I been doing my research on updating my exhaust and I been reading information on the V8SHO site and they say that Borla has a catback system ??? is this true also they say that the sho shop has one too? is this true or is this just old info?

Borla's cat back exhaust system has been out of production for YEARS.

V8SHO contains a lot of useful information but most of it is out dated.

Guy who runs that joint's name is Doug Lewis...he's SHO Dude on this here forum. nice guy. He's done a fair amount of work for me. He can be a bit on the steep side, but then, with a SHO, you ain't gonna get nothing cheap.

Hey Paul,

Do you know if these guys are still in business?

http://www.fordspecialists.com/partsandservices/performanceparts.html

If so, they list they have it but who knows if they still do or not. I just remember seeing it there. Their site could be long overdue for an update.

Yup, still here, still cookin'.

The Borla cat-back system has been discontinued. As Bola distributor, we can get the jigs out of storage, but it takes an order of 10 units or more. Proll'y not gonna happen any time soon.

What we've been doing in the mean time is installing the new Magnaflow Y-pipe ($400), a 3rd cat delete pipe ($130) and a set of Magnaflow mufflers ($100ea). When we do the job here in our shop, we reuse the factory tips for a stock look.

We also have intake kits, SCT tuners with our custom tuning options, underdrive pulleys, brake kits, suspensions kits and just about anything else you might need for your Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle.

The '99 I think will be getting a 3rd cat delete and Flow 40's. I heard some clips and that I like. I also had the lopped off mufflers/straight pipes on my '97, and it was great- but not so much from 0-45 in city driving. Highway 55+ it was nearly silent though.
