Many options to consider, many available. Upper 60K sounds like is in order, you can pick up a new radiator for ~$100. Heater core tubes may be leaking.

If you choose to do half assed service to "get you by" be prepared for tow bills and keep walking shoes handy. If you're dedicated to driving a well maintained SHO it'll take care of you.

Long story short, buying a SHO that needs a lot of work should only be done by those with the knowing, or by those with extra $ they aren't afraid to spend. Once fixed RIGHT, a SHO is a great riding, performing, reliable vehicle.

I have three, 93 owned since 97, invested ~$5K never stranded. 95 since 2003, never stranded. 92 since 2006, never driven.

I totally agree, if you're going to do it right, be prepared to spend some money. I will say it definitely is a learning experience, I've been working on cars for 20 years and still get hung up because shos are in a different category. Here's where we stand with my brother's car, it was put on hold so I could finish my GL but it'll be back out real soon and getting more work done to it. It would be nice to finish it this year, LOL. The sho.

You might want to get your priorities strate.

Start with http://shophoenixproject.com/

When you get all that done you can start thinking about converting to MTX or just buy one outright so you can represent both flavors.

Eh, It would be worth it. Build it up strictly track. Plus with this new job I just landed at Carmax I'll have MORE than enough incoming cash to fund a 3rd car.

Well?

Just so you know, the reason the crank sensor went is likely because that coolant leak you had was the weep hole in the bottom of the water pump (leaks so you know it is starting to wear out)... That sensor is positioned immediately below the waterpump.... The hot coolant destroys it in no time.. Those 2 repairs arent all that bad, but the timing belt may as well be done then, and the intake gaskets you may as well do then also... Let us know how it goes!

I would say a full front 60 k to start with to get you running. front 60k would be water pump, timing belt cps sensor, cam and front oil seal, where in NY are you were about 20min from vestal NY
