One day I took the drivers wheel off both my 99 star and my 95 SHO. Did some quick measurements, the distance between the caliper to bracket, and bracket to hub bolts were larger on the 'star. zak

You can get a Cobra front brake setup for the $250 range. With the performance/dollar value, there's really no need to search for cheaper routes (unless you really like the Slicers).

that's a pad issue.

Try some Carbotech XP10 front pads, and high temp fluid of your choice. It'll probably eventually fade a bit, but it'll last longer than 1 lap.

ok my brakes just suck and i have the 96 upgrade. but i do't want to go get some none stock brakes so what kind pads are good and can get easy?? they fade easy. 1 lap on the track and thats it they toast.

You need 2 sets of pads, one for regular street driving and one set of dedicated track pads.

With alot of track use I'd consider an even better setup than the '96 upgrade but go with better pads first. If it serves your purpose then you will save $$ over a larger setup (that will still require track pads!).

You can get the Cobras for $205-$225 shipped in black or red off a couple websites, and they're fully loaded.

anyone else notice that these look like the PBR aluminum mustang calipers?

I've seen them on the windstars before and thats what they remind me of....

you don't need to worry about sizes, if the windstar caliper bracket will bolt onto the knuckle... your good to go... but who knows if the knuckle is different, it could be like a 94/95 knuckle style while yours a different so the measurements weren't quite the same..........

I think Racer_X has the PBR dual piston mustang "upgrade"....... he melted his calipers I think a few times.........

96 upgrade with FORD pads. make sure you use the SHO part number they are excelent pads. they blow many other aftermarket pads out of the water and they last a long time. I had great luck with them at gingerman in michigan in 100 deg temps on my stock ATX.

13 inch cobras will fit on stock 16 inch rims correct??

No. You need 17s or the unique 16" aftermarket rims that Josh sells.

My 12.5" kit with deep offset doesn't even fit under slicers. The Bondurant 12" kit only fits with a spacer. Slicers are especially bad for fitting over large diameter brakes.
