Uhmmm..... No, that's not correct. All the rear calipers has steel or aluminum pistons. That's the only way the e-brake could work. No way would a phenolic piston take a threaded actuator.

The '89 SHO's had tapered roller bearings and did not have ABS and as a result, they had a slightly different offset in the rotor. Actually, you could use front rotors on the back of an '89 (with a little creative shimming of the caliper bracket). So these are not a direct bolt-on for an '89.

The only difference between the 89 and 90-92 calipers is the piston. 89 had phenloic and 90-92 had steel. They switched to steel because the phenolic had the possibility of melting.

How long is this sale for? I am in the middle of rear brakes right now, and just might get these instead.

They should work. I know of one person running 89's on a Gen1.

While they may not have put ABS brakes on the 89s, I know of one 89 (02/89 manufacture date) that has E9DZ-2C100/101 adapter plates (versus FODZ-) that have both the ABS sensor hole and taped hole for the ABS sensor retaining bolt. Technically you could put 1989 spindles, bearings and hubs on a '90 SHO, but there's no point in going to the older non-sealed rear bearing assembly. The unknown is whether the tone-rings could be pressed onto the 1989 style hub assemblies.

I have no experience with those hubs, so it may be that is what prevented Ford from including ABS on the original model-year for the SHO.

The same caliper and caliper brackets were used 1989-1992. What was different was the depth of the rotor hat, which when combined with the difference offset from the rear spindle and bearings, allow the same caliper/caliper brackets to be used.

Has anyone actually received their calipers yet? I am kind of in a dilema in that I will be gone through the 6th, and I am curious as to who the courier was and where the calipers shipped from.

Reason - I plan on leaving either tomorrow or Sunday (depending on when I get my car done) for Carlisle, taking the scenic route via my parents for Memorial Day. Thus if they shipped next week, I'm afraid they'll be returned as their will be no one there to accept the shipment.

The checkout system refuses to process my credit card, I keep getting the following error message:

"The credit card you entered cannot be used for this payment.
Please enter a different credit card number."

There's nothing wrong with the card. There's more than sufficient credit for the purchase (way more). I sucessfully used the card yesterday and again just minutes ago with no problem. I called my issuing bank (Capital One) and they stated whoever is processing your charges didn't even make an authorization attempt. So the problem is on the checkout end.

I have tried checking out both yesterday evening and again this morning, each time with the same results. The amount total with shipping is $349.86 and I am at a loss as to what to do....
