It was on my list along with pikes, kind of weird to cross one off in 20 minutes but we ran 129 the entire way up from FL so it was a total experience lol.
Pikes was supposed to be after I had my fox body finished but who knows, about to part it out and scrap the shell. I feel like anything nimble would be fun, I'd appreciate the scenery in my battleship but I'd be tired by the end of the run. A SHO day would be awesome out there, I saw so many vettes and lotus' I wanted to puke. BUT, I did see a legit Holden UTE, at first I thought it was a rebadged SS but once I saw the bed and the RHD I got a little gitty.
10/10 do recommend

Little update on the Lincoln:
First, a name change, Olivia wasn't really sticking and the wife spat out Bea Arthur as a joke I can only imagine. But I liked it, I tried to talk myself out of it because of it being too close to "Betty" another recently named famous truck here, but I couldn't get over how perfect of a fit it was. Big classy girl with an attitude and initials BA, so I'm stuck on Bea.
Other news: 70% of the suspension is replaced, (I didn't miss rust belt cars) and she has new tires for her mustang wheels so she rides like a Lincoln finally. Played with forscan and turned on the DRLs, the factory cd player died immediately so I swapped in a touch screen. I 3d printed a tag light housing to hold 2 lights and the rear camera without cutting or drilling the unexpectedly expensive and hard to find not broken trunk lid panel. Next is some fog lights, tint, and then I'm out of money. I'll post some pics soon

Hahaha, all of my vehicles are named after classy older women. Betty after Betty White. M after Judie Dench's portrayal of M from James Bond. Elizabeth is named after Liz Taylor. The vehicle usually presents herself, after the first drive.

I like to give it a week or 2 to get the personality down, I don't follow much of a theme, the most I'll do is look up popular names from the era for inspiration. So far all of them have been pretty spot on. The SHO was Tori (not that creative but sounds like an insufferable *****) Fusion is Whitney after Whitney Houston derived from initial nick name of War Horse (she has seen some s#it), truck is Rory because of the 3 valves oversized exhaust valve and variable timing, quiet at idle and loud on WOT. Fox body is AJ and I have 30 more I could list lol.
But Bea fits the Lincoln, shes big and classy, not going to do much more than exist to impress you and usually that's enough. Old school presence and from a generation where less was more. But I'm still going to pull her hair back, tune should be ready in a week or two lol

Bea update: got the tint done yesterday, deleted the window trim chrome today, and installed my back up camera/license plate light so I don't have to cut anything up to add the camera. Looks factory and the chrome delete goes miles.

It's been a busy hot summer and I have more updates on lawn mowers and renovations than I do the ol Lincoln. But, I did manage to get the tune finally. Just wanted to wake it up a little and see what we're working with under all the luxury tuning to soften it.
My tuner said they (Ford) had the torque management pulling 30% of the power out before shifting. Seems astronomical to me especially for a mod motor set to shift at 5100rpm. They cut the power band in half. So that's gone now, along with the speed limiter. Shift point was raised to 5600 and we increased the line pressure for the transmission. So now I power throughout the power band and higher firmer shifts.
Noticable, yes. Ground breaking, no. She's still a tank and needs gears. Considering snatching the 3.73s with locker out of my mustang and getting rid of the 3.27 open. But in due time, it's too hot do get anything done down here.

You might want to find that 2 door Lincoln that came with the 4 valve Cobra motor in it and see what you can put in yours. IE, rear, tranny, brakes etc.

Mark 8 with a 8.8 IRS and DOHC 4.6. I've looked into it believe me lol. Mark 8s are starting to gain value, they were forgotten about for so long. Honestly though, I'm probably keeping the 2v for a while, that was most of the reason I bought it, dead reliability. But I did just see someone get 300whp in a mustang doing cams and throttle body.
For now, the list stays short: gears, exhaust, drop in filter. I have to admit I'm enjoying the casual ride getting 21mpg. But once the wife gets her new car in a year or 2 I think a dohc 4.6 or 5.0 is in its future. Leaning hard toward a coyote so I can have the 6r80 in a neat little package.

My philosophy when I grabbed mine. They're not getting any newer, values on clean examples will only go up. Lincoln's have things the other 2 dont. They're longer for more front leg room by 3 inches, another 8" if you get the L but that's for rear leg room. Media buttons on the wheel, HID factory headlights, and power trunk lid. I wanted an 11, last year newest possible, but from 06 to 11 they're the same car, 08 to end of production had 2 trims, the high trim got heated seats, wood wheel section, couple other things.
If you can score an 08-11 with under 100k I say go for it. I feel like I overpaid for mine, not by much but it was for a good cause anyway. Finding one that hadn't been beat on and was actually taken care of was surprisingly difficult (if you want black might as well give up now) Even if it's not your favorite car in the driveway it'll always start and ride smooth, but mines quickly becoming a favorite

I’d love to be able to use one to pull my camper. If I could figure out how to make one reliably pull 5.5k pounds I’d be all over it. However, 1,500 lb tow rating is a bit outside. Cause yeah, I looked into it. Ha

Tow ratings are just a way to sell more trucks lol. but seriously, 1500 seems light for these considering they weigh as much as an explorer, have a longer wheelbase, and have the same engine and transmission as the f-150, the only difference I have found is the spline count in the rear axle. suspension is a different story and that might be why its so low but thats an easy fix. This guy looks to be pulling about 7000lbs, he might be chewing the seat with his brown eye but the panther abides
Aver my 06 Vic I swore I would never put another hitch on a car, not because it couldnt do it, just because I didn't like towing with it, but Ford released the panther chassis in 1978 and it was changed over the years sure but, it was built to tow in a time that the family car was still a car
a class 2 hitch and hearse bags would easily put you safely towing 4k lbs without much sacrifice of ride, 3.55s from a PI would make it easier to roll too. Parts bin is there, just sayin.

Pay more for less reliability. you get more power but what good is it if you cant drive it. the playstation controller steering wheel buttons in our SHOs was gross to me, granted I loved my car, i CAN do without. now you pay for a car to drive itself and to have more screens all while it cant make it to the first oil change. I just want simplicity and to feel the car. back when you could talk to your car and you thought it was listening, as apposed to now that they are listening and respond with restaurant suggestions.

I enjoy creature comforts as much as anyone else, but I want to sit on my couch to watch TV, I want to DRIVE my car (which coincidently also has a couch). Since I bought my Lincoln just a few months ago, it has already been our ONLY car for a few days here and there with the wifes car and my truck deciding to check out in the heat. but the panther abides, and it does it so well Im starting to think of leaving it alone and picking up a 99-04 mustang to play with since my fox took a tree branch a few weeks ago.

Yeah I think suspension, is the game. How much would you ruin it for day to day to handle the occasional tow?Gears, keeping the trans cool and happy that’s all no problem. And I know there is plenty of engine, I mean, I’m doing it now with a four banger for Peet’s sake.
