I have found a 2014 SHO for $7400 on Facebook with 140k miles. Seller only speaks Spanish so communication isn't the easiest. Not sure if it's the performance package (he doesn't know what it is as he is the second owner). If I go to look at it, what things should I look out for? I've seen that 2013+ fixed a lot of the earlier 4th gen issues but 140k is still a fair amount of miles for a car like this. And is the price worth it? What do you think is a fair offer? I'll probably purchase a cheap CarFax soon. This is my first Taurus so I apologize in advance for the little known info.

Thanks,
Hunter.

any maintenance/upkeep history provided with the vehicle? the fact that the seller has so little idea about the vehicle is not an encouraging sign. could be good could be bad.

go into it assuming you will need a replacement powertrain (engine/trans/ptu/rdu/etc) and price accordingly. you wont get much of an extended warranty from ford at this point so everything is coming out of your pocket.

hopefully there is no bondo or shadetree work on the body/airbags/etc which to me would basically tank any value it has except as a beater. most of us dont buy a sho for a beater but you may differ.

I just purchased a cheap CarFax. It's not a PP but it has the 401A package. I think the seller knows about the vehicle but the language barrier might be causing issues. It's a 5 owner, 1st owner had it for 4 years, then about a year each. 4th owner owned it for 25 days before being repo'd when damage was reported to right door but it all looks good in the pictures so I will definitely check for bondo with a magnetic tool. Thanks for the info. I will look into more powertrain stuff.
