Looking for opinion on 16 SHO at Dealer MODDED a ton

Found this at a dealer. Went to look at it and found a ton of stuff. Looking for opinions if I should buy it for $22,400 with 31k miles (Listed on Cargurus if you're interested). Note: its lowered, has very good tires and has a full exhaust. Dealer has no clue what mods the car has done (a bunch). I did find the Driver seat is not reclining correctly (only one side leans the other is stuck) and The rear heated seats don't work either. They were willing to fix that. So please let me know your Thoughts?
P.S. no idea on tune and I would've started down this path of mods over the years if it was stock. I'm worried about it falling apart.

At least 1500$ in just the hpfp and tune. Epp coated dual intake aint cheap either.

Id buy it, has most of the aftermarket parts with it for a good price. Just gotta see if there is a tuning device with it and maybe the stock hpfp and map sensor if its a 3bar. So it can be made stock again for Ford diagnostics.

My first thought too, but he had Gearhead overlays on the wheels and ford badges. I also didn’t see the fuel it ethanol reader.

That’s my old SHO.. pm me for questions. It has every bolt on available with upgraded Gearhead turbos running a highly custom Auto Octane tune..

I got a message that it was serviced at Ford dealer in NJ.

Do not run anything less than 93 octane for ideal performance...

I still have the tuning device with the E30 tune that puts it into the mid to high 11’s depending on day...

Current Modifications are:

Gearhead Custom Tunes, Gearhead Gen3 Turbos, Gearhead Intercooler, Gearhead 170 Tstat, EPP Dual Feed Intake, EPP Hot Pipes, EPP Ceramic Coated Catted Downpipes, Corsa Exhaust, XDI-35 Fuel Pump, Fuel-It Bluetooth Ethanol Analyzer, HR Lowering Springs, Whiteline Upgraded Rear Sway Bar, AD Lower Trans Mounts, 3Bar MAP, SP-542 Plugs, Custom SHO Puddle Lights, SHO battery tie down..

Also has been upgraded to Apple Car Play and manually updated to latest supported Microsoft Sync.

Depending on miles right before I offloaded it I had just done a full 3 x drain and fill of the transmission, brand new gapped at .028 sp-542 plugs, and has 2K miles on the oil change.

Car will pass emissions just fine, the auto octane tune will run low 12's on just 93 at full weight.

I know that car inside and out like the back of my hand..

The transmission has a small leak at the rear where the halves meet.. very typical, dealer told me it wasn't worth fixing YET. If daily driven you probably would never notice the leak.

That was on a baseline E30 tune from Gearhead. It was afterward turned up a bit more, never had it dyno after but it should be better than 500/500 at the wheels.

It won first place at Ford Nationals last year in its group which was fun..

The first to second shift has always been odd since the day I bought it.. meaning.. it tends to be a bit harsher than the other shifts, hasn't been a problem though..

I ALSO WOULDN"T REMOVE THE HPFP!!!! The original bolts supplied snapped and stripped the pedestal a bit on the right side bolt. I used a longer bolt than stock and rebuilt the threads, it has held fine through lots of track time and data logging and driving.. should be fine. I just wouldn't go about messing with it too much ;-)

EDIT: Just read the two isses about the seat not reclining and the rear seat heaters.. Those were not issues when I got rid of it.

I wanted to do something different, I was bored.. its not worth dropping a motor into because the drive train wont handle it.. I had been looking at picking up something different for a long time but hadn't decided on what I wanted. I had tried to private party the vehicle several times but got a lot of tire kickers...

Racing cars and building street cars was something I had been doing since I was 15 and decided to change things up now that I have kids who are old enough to tell me they don't like going to the track and mean it.. (not sure where I ****** up there..) but they love camping and offroading..

I so I picked up a brand new 2021 JLU Rubicon (yes.. I know.. at that price I could have gotten at GT350..) that I am currently building as an overland vehicle.. slowly gathering the parts and pieces for that build too.. Never played with a Jeep other than my wife has been in a jeep since we started dating when we were 18. And she won't let me build hers out lol!

Anyway.. thats a great SHO, has some minor quirks... you will get lots of enjoyment out of it!

To be honest there are several reasons why the Bronco wasn’t on the table..

1: I’m not interested in a first run vehicle.

2: They are sold out already on preorders which means any dealer stock is going to be marked up.

3: I know what it takes to keep an EB motor running but well. And they are a maintenance hog.

4: Ford lately has been having lots of recalls and issues.. figured I would wait awhile and see how the Bronco does. The Rubicon’s hold their resale value well, I can sell it for what I paid for it at this point.

The best thing about a jeep, there's always a sucker that will buy it for way too much when you sell it. Lol

I've researched a lot of practical and tactical vehicles and mods which crosses over into overlanding.

Overlanding is awesome but I would choose a reliable vehicle for that purpose..... Yikes. But the good news is most jeep guys carry tons of extra parts and tools. They also will work on each other's jeeps for most of their trips so they are dedicated. I guess it's a jeep thing and I don't understand.

Yup... I have all the receipts... it’s about $10K.. maybe a bit more.

Every part is the best available. There were no cheap parts in that build. I went best of breed at the time. For reliability reasons.

That SHO is built to last.. even the tunes worked with Matt are designed for bracket like stability at the track.

It was never sent down the track with the intent of a one and done record.

The Jeep world is... interesting for sure.... but you run into the same stuff.. people try to build on the cheap and get ****** when stuff breaks.. that is a common problem across building vehicles..

Between my wife’s 2021 JLU 80th and my 2021 JLU Rubicon... we should be good to go when WW3 breaks out LOL..
