Day 1
Leave Oklahoma Wednesday, Sep 2, 0830 hrs. Headed across southern Missouri and made a very brief drive through Illinois before driving through Kentucky. I had never crossed these bridges (where the Ohio River meets the Mississippi) to the best of my recollection, and was stopped for a time due to bridge construction closing one lane.

Once past the rivers, next rest stop was the most interesting I had seen, had to take some pics:

After that, it was smooth sailing all the way to East of Lenoir City, TN, to my bed for the night at the Dragon Pitt Inn.

Stay tuned...

Thats sweet man, thank you for detailing your journey for us.
I and my family are from the area you are describing. My aunt had a shoe store for 40 years in that small little town of Cairo IL that is sandwiched between the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. The confluence of these two great rivers is is the southern tip of Illinois. My parents still love there.
Cairo once was a great town. Now it sits in ruins.
Just across the second bridge you crossed you entered Kentucky, we had a family farm on the banks of the Ohio. Owned by the state of KY presently. Lots of family and memories and tons of antebellum history.
Again, thanks for sharing, look forward to more.

Nice being able to live vicariously through the posts detailing your adventures there Tim.

Thanks for posting.

Frustrated with the snails pace my build is proceeding at, causing me to miss this event yet again. *sigh*.

Safe travels to you and everyone else. I too am looking forward to addt'l updates.

Day 2 - Part II

The scenery in the Smokey Mountains is breathtaking. I visited Cherokee, NC and toured the Museum of the Cherokee Indian. Then headed to Clingman’s Dome, right along the Appalachian Trail. Even got to hike a few miles in the area and enjoy a scenic picnic. Also met a couple who had just finished a 90 mile section of the trail over the past 8 days.

If you have never had the opportunity to visit this part of the world, I strongly recommend it, the natural beauty is breathtaking. 6D2CCAFD 406D 4E24 986A 043C2DA5A0DD A50CD38D 36EB 4F85 98F5 F9291BADD470 9D0061F9 0276 460A 8765 0E080102E723 88159DC3 8981 44B6 8A3C DE83A5D3795A F9C3B254 240C 45FE A193 C1A0ACAE1288 01D9B128 EF0F 4CD3 AFCB 478F032F59AC D2FA482E 15D2 4A7B 8E69 627BF5F1392A 287ED871 E1E3 4C93 80AB 3650592BD48C 47C6A9B4 6D93 4E55 869B 0DAFE261EAC0 39C14B87 D79D 414F 8E50 E2B1C91EB2D6 1E185ACF 7D22 4475 A0E8 3C44D1FE3C22

Day 3
September 4

I arrive at the host hotel in Beaver Falls, PA around 1 minute after midnight. There’s a group in parking lot enjoying association and adult beverages, I say hello to everyone, some familiar faces, some new faces, and proceed to my room for shower and sleep. The car show starts in less than 10 hours and I have 1500 miles of road trip to clean off the car.

After a 6-7 hours of sleep, wake to wash SHO and do some last minute detailing, then head over to Pittrace for the car SHOw. With no further ado, here are the pictures, enjoy!

After the car SHOw, I was spent, the previous two days were catching up with me and I went back to the hotel for lunch and what was going to be a quick nap (but ended up lasting 3 hours). While I napped, the awesome community that is the SHO world had put many hands to an injured SHO (trans grenade) and replaced the transaxle in the parking lot in under 80 minutes! Good stuff!

Been a long time since I've seen some of those cars. I haven't seen a GenIII cowl hood on a car in a long time. Is that Dan's GenIII wagon or another owner? Hard to keep track. I was wondering 'why is Tim driving a green SHO to the Con.?' Looking under the hood I see why... (my current & last GenII were green & sick of the color).

Wagon belongs to Aaron Nelson from Wisconsin. Dan SHOd up in a Subaru. Said his wagon is at the Ford Dealership with some sort of Gremlin.

Thanks for the photo-journalism! I'm probably never making it to an East Coast convention, but is fun to see. That one with the Turtle, was that one of the TMNT race team cars?

Yes, Matt found it in Canadia.
NOTAURIUS has a thread about his recent purchase.

Get your local SHO owners together to talk about hosting something out west. I would love to go west again for a Convention or a large meet.
