I'm a hotrod enthusiast built on function over form mentality. Give me a ratrod that can destroy the autocross and the dragstrip and then drive cross country in comfort. I could care less about bling as long as the exhaust sings. I also will sacrifice comfort if the performance is worth it. Case point example is the original dodge viper, anyone who knows me will know how I feel about dodge but muddafugga the first viper had me considering a mortgage for a weekend car.
Lol, im a middle of the road guy. I like function over form but if i go into a mod knowing it'll likely do nothing for performance but give me some look im looking for, ill go for it. Not always, but occasionally...

Recent example for me is the hood for my XSport...Amerihood makes a really good looking, and maybe even arguably semi-functional...but it's 100% fiberglass...gonna be WAY heavier than the stock hood. So despite it looking "better" (my opinion, of course), im not willing to make that weight sacrifice...

But I was willing to invest in some HID conversion headlight bulbs that some could argue aren't as "functional" as the OEM....but dammit....I wanted HIDs, cuz I like the look, lol....

My current truck is nicknamed black betty. I also had an s10 with a 355 with that nickname as well.

The previous was a hack job, the current will probably become one as well

I was extremely disappointed with the factory lights in the SHO but I failed at finding a suitable aftermarket replacement. **** I couldn't even get replacement turn signals to work right.

I'm really wanting to do a sport grille swap but it's pricey for just cosmetics. Also want an aftermarket hood but as you stated.....heavier and no other gains...

Xsport has an Explorer so I’m sure he was talking about that instead of a SHO regarding the fiberglass hood.

What were your issues with turn signals?

The explorer sport is a SHO, actually better in most ways.

I experienced lots of flicker issues and issues with lights not working correctly with DRL modes. I tried forscan and resistors. I tried at least 6 brands before abandoning the idea.
I ended up using stock replacement parts and giving up on led lights.

Oddly with my truck, zero issues without even using forscan.

Lol, I'm sure he knows, we've interacted quite a bit. I'm certain he meant it anecdotally...

I always assume people don't sign up for an account and interact in a random thread with random people without doing any research.

I had read these forums for months before posting anything. I actually knew more about most of the users than I do about my neighbors.

Now where is Ryan Selcer? I demand satisfaction!

That seems odd. Did you ever have issues if the DRL were disabled?

I recently just joined here since the community for the Explorers isn’t nearly as active as the SHOs. It’s good that you do your research before posting but the fact that people tend to overlook a small detail is sometimes worth pointing out for clarity for others just lurking.

The whole point was to have switchbacks like all the other cool kids.

Welcome to the forums!
I'd suggest checking out everyone's signature to get fully up to speed as far as what they drive/mods they have.

Excuse me? Are you serious right now?
If you are taking anything I say personally, then by all means do some self reflection. I have only directed positivity to your tuning even though I have personally never used it. I have done research and have followed most of the threads you are involved in.

As far as taking advantage of the community? I refer anyone to the continuing example of the cold air intake saga which to my knowledge ALL tuners participate in. Buy this really expensive air box that actually increases air temps and doesn't add power and may actually decrease power....... These should be sold as cosmetic and auditory upgrades only and advised that unless you are pushing for that last 1% you will most likely gain nothing.

Let's see some lap times on the sway bar or at least some g force testing.
I'm not saying noone should buy this but I am saying let's get some real world truth when it comes to performance. Claims of x or y don't mean z to me.

Sorry if I came off crass or defensive, I've been spending a lot of time ironing this out, and am getting a lot of push to release but refuse to put my name on anything I haven't personally tested myself. I don't have access to an open track, and Whiteline doesn't have a SHO to test with lowering springs, so we are kinda stuck with the hands dealt. It's part of why I helped to negotiate a lower entry level rate and a limited number of availability so that we can hopefully get some hands on experience with the more dedicated drivers to gain additional feedback more than I can provide.

It's easy to validate performance parts as we have dynos and datalogs, but suspension and braking upgrades are hard to validate due to ever changing conditions, I can only provide the information supplied by the vendor, and return any questions that I can't answer myself to show them both the continued invested interest in the product by the community as well as any concerns that arise.

I do appreciate your support, I may have read too much into your response (and I was building a shed at the time, probably not the best multitasker either), so please accept my apology.

I appreciate all of your time in answering questions and participating in threads. This is a welcome change with tuners and vendors. I still plan to try out your company's tunes some day. Ive been interested mainly due to the mustang cross breeding when it comes to performance.

It wasn't directed at anyone in particular. Ive just been frustrated with all the hype on SHO parts especially. Probably the biggest benefit to switching to the truck was being able to waste less money on useless things. Although I still did with fluids.

TLDR keep up the good work!

I try to make it a point to try EVERYTHING on my car so that I can give honest responses when people ask for recommendations. I have a lot of useless mods on my car that did nothing for performance, but at least I can say I actually tried them and I'm not just trying to make a sale. There are a few parts in my mod list that I actually try to talk people out of, but if they insist I still make that paper.

I do support the use of a CAI on these cars, but you have to do a lot of work to the VCT in order to take advantage of it at higher RPMs. Is it a game changer? Not really but if you are looking for that little extra push it can definitely help.

The VCT stuff is interesting to me because I haven't seen very many tuners actually using it.

I'm on my 5th revision with BCB and the power is great but im still not 100% happy with the shifting. There's a noticeable lag between 3 and 4 under WOT. Also feels like downshifting at higher speeds has slight delay.

But so far they are super responsive and willing to keep tweaking.

I might be getting a free tune from 5star so that could be the next comparison thread. Lol

Speaking of trying things, has anyone tried adding a turbo wastegate divider to see if it aids exhaust flow or boost control?

No need for a track. You can log lateral Gs before and after on turn in, find an open parking lot, and set up a series of S turns. 45 mph should be all you need to hit the limit of what it can hold.

Track times actually offer TOO many variables, most notably, driver performance.

True. Might have to venture down to the sports complex one afternoon once this monsoon stops.
