2013 SHO *no PP, i don't think anyway.
Ok, I've had an interesting run with Lucy, yes she's got some splainin' to do lol, I have had her in ther barn/ garage for weeks because we're are all dealing with this pandemic and im in healthcare, sigh it's nuts that's all, so anyway... i have managed to get waterpump changed and eveything back together but I'll be dammed if i didn't get P0340 &P0344 codes! I turned on engine 3 nights ago and found that intake had a leak in gasket so... fixed and try again right, wrong. Turn her over and engine light still on. Where do i start now? I know it says cam shaft sensor but what are the actual odds its the sensor itself?

Does it run at all? Does it run correctly?

First thought is either electrical or mechanical. Electrical would be the sensor itself, a short in the wiring, or the computer or if the battery/alt is runniong too low these electrical systems are finicky.

Mechanical would be a timing issue and I assume the timing chains run the pump?

Yes the only two codes that it's through with the P0340 and p0344 that was before I went back and fixed the leak then I cleared the codes and I have don't have the engine like now but if I hook up the scan tool it still shows the code so I don't know if they're stored codes or what

Sorry I just saw this. I didn't see both messages, I was thinking that the first time I put the air intake on I forgot to Route the wires through and under the intake so I thought maybe it was that you know not that the system is smart enough to know that I routed them wrong but maybe something wasn't sitting directly. So when I took it off to fix the leak I routed everything correctly and double-checked everything to make sure it was routed correctly and now I'm wondering if maybe in all of the movements maybe I could have wax the sensor on something or I don't even know if that's a possibility but I was brainstorming you know

I should have mentioned that yes she runs no I haven't driven her out of the bay yet, because I was too afraid to Iran the scan tool make sure that it was okay to pull her out of the Bay. She seems like she's running okay but it still feels a little off I'm going to say. For the last six weeks I've been driving a 5.9 Durango so maybe I'm overthinking it I just didn't want to do any permanent damage if I decided to take her for a ride and the check engine light came on you know what I mean

Does your scan tool have a function to clear stored codes? I would look into that and try it.

If it runs you could clear the codes and see if something pops back up with a short drive. I have seen other cars where like a one tooth off made it run but poorly.

Anything is possible when working on things. I had a coil go bad after changing plugs so maybe a little movement was all it took or coincidence. You never know. I would not drive it far. a bad cam sensor should pop very easily.

Ok so, codes came back up without leaving driveway so i guess i will go to parts store. She's just a hair off on her idle, there's a low almost whining, like old power steering would sound. Sigh... ok im gonna get this right lol

Ok guys, i searched and found a single plug without a wire harness plugged in.... yep camshaft sensor. Ok eveything seemed mostly ok but i still felt like something was a miss... within 10 min gasket on intake, recommended by OReillys guy, not only didn't hold it leaked at all corners ‍♀️♀️♀️ ok i will be cleaning and tying to redeem myself lol. I can do this but i will follow my original plans with things like liquid gasket from here on

I only replaced water pump. I didn't have to pull synchronizers off or secondary chain. I used Ford tools to hold shafts and it came with the pin that holds the tensioner for secondary but i didn't use it. I haven't been brave enough in the past to try to do timing and i don't think ive ever been so worried i sneeze and mess it up but i bought myself a shiny star by taking a velcro strap and wrapping it around the synchronizer on left with chain still on and then took off tensioner, set the hanging chain on top of that so really between my marks and the head start i got from that i think i cheated.

I really wonder if i should've changed out timing too but honestly after this fiasco i think i can tackle it if i hear that dreaded rattle... you guys are really the reason ya know. Ive read countless threads and looked at pics and diagrams and read through mistakes. It all helped. Thank you!

See y'all are great... even after i said synchronizers instead of phasers lol. I am a work in progress. I really think i need to come up with a simple project soon. Im considering covering the wiring. Im a "restore" gal but i could definitely like cosmetic changes that don't damage original parts. Im really loving the removable vinyl too, maybe not for wiring but personalizing inside??... thoughts?

If you have a good eye and a steady hand go for it. I can neither draw nor cut a straight line so that's usually not even a consideration for my stuff. I'm better at hitting things, twisting things and cursing alot.

Besides, with vinyl you can always take it off.

Hello, I'm fairly new to the forum. I bought my '13 a few months ago which prompted my 18 yr old son to get in on a '13 PP a couple of weeks ago. We discovered a coolant leak on his +150K car and have done quite a bit of reading and YouTube watching to learn about water pump replacement on this model. One of the final steps I've seen done to clear out an eminent engine code is to plug into the IDS and perform the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction &Relearn procedure. Evidently this is required if the crankshaft pulley is removed as you had to do during the removal of your timing chain cover. There's a brief explanation in the youtube video listed.
Perhaps this might be of assistance.

Thank you very much. I watched it anyway but it turned out that my 2 helpers had forgot to plug in the sensor completely lol. I now know that ignoring thr edibles they were trying was just plain dumb of me. ‍♀️♀️♀️ They were a huge help and they were also enough to make me need beer! Ive learned so much from this and im fairly certain i still know nothing lol. If you have any little things i can help with let me know and congrats to you both! My 1st SHO was a 93 and when I bought in 2003 I got into an accident in 2005 and she was totaled out but I bought the 13 last April and I would say the 20 years has made some huge adjustments and I am ecstatic so even though I'm tinkering I don't mind at all I enjoy every minute of it.
